Job Description

This Part time position is for a person who loves God and His Church. The office assistant will provide administrative support to the clergy and the office staff. The office assistant provides faith formation support . Must maintain confidentiality, professional courtesy and exceptional parishioner care skills at all times.

The office assistant supports parish operations through effective communication, organization, and parish communications, including the weekly bulletin. This role requires a strong sense of Catholic identity, excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a faith-centered environment. 

Essential Job Functions/ Communications & Bulletin Publishing

· Strong alignment with and respect for the mission, teachings, and values of the Catholic Church.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

· Proficiency with standard office technology and software (email, word processing, databases, Canva, Adobe Suite - Photoshop and Illustrator).

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgement.

· Practicing Catholic with active participation in parish life. 

· Ability to work in a team environment and maintain a good working relationship with every parish staff, volunteers and parishioners.

Requirements

· Must be fluent in English, being bilingual is a plus

· Must be able to maintain confidentiality

· Ability to set priorities and organize work effectively and efficiently, including developing and maintaining timely record-keeping systems with accuracy

· Able to work with multiple distractions and interruptions, and be multi-task capable

· Demonstrate ability to compose correspondence and prepare reports in a timely and professional manner

Work Schedule

This is a part-time position scheduled to work Monday through Thursday in accordance with the office hours. The position may also require availability during evenings and holidays based on parish activities and the liturgical calendar.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent certificate; vocational training in data/word processing 

Experience; Minimum one or two years of experience in a similar position is mandatory 

Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role with occasional travel to other locations in the Diocese of Phoenix. This job may include filing and would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
