Position Objective:
Work closely with the Director of PETA Latino Communications and the Chief Marketing and Digital Innovation Officer to coordinate PETA's online, media, celebrity, and on-the-ground campaigns in Brazil
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
• Manage PETA’s Portuguese-language social media presence. Create compelling content, post twice daily, respond to comments promptly, and moderate interactions to increase engagement.
• Translate materials, including social media posts and comments, videos, ads, and other written projects as needed, to Portuguese (and from Portuguese to English, as needed)
• Stay current on social media trends and capabilities
• Create graphics and ads for social media
• Research a variety of animal-protection issues in Portuguese to ensure the factual accuracy of publications related to PETA's work
• Stay up to date on current affairs and popular culture in Brazil
• Help develop regional and country-specific marketing and media plans to reach audiences for celebrity campaigns, video launches, news releases, and other initiatives
• Research celebrities and online influencers who are popular in Brazil
• Write letters to and manage correspondence with influencers and decision-makers in Brazil
• Write Portuguese-language scripts, ad copy, and text for campaign materials as needed
• Work with key PETA senior staff members to create pitch ideas that will become the next big thing for animal rights in Brazil
• Ensure uniformity of PETA’s message in English and Portuguese across platforms
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
• Minimum of two years of social media experience for an organization, personality, or business
• Strong creative and digital technology skills
• Proven experience with video editing software, including but not limited to Adobe Premiere Pro
• Fluency in English and Portuguese (speaking, reading, and writing)
• Proven interest in and strong working knowledge of Brazilian culture
• Demonstrated knowledge of animal rights issues and PETA campaigns
• Sophisticated understanding of creative work
• Proven ability to conduct and analyze research
• Proven excellent project management, strategic thinking, decision-making, and analytical skills
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Proven ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines
• Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional manner
• Proven strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Professional appearance and adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle
• Support for PETA's philosophy and the ability to advocate PETA's positions on issues professionally
• Commitment to the objectives of the organization
The hourly pay range for this position is $19.79 - $24.61 per hour. The ultimate hourly pay within this range that will be offered to a qualified candidate will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and the cost of living in the area in which the candidate will live and work.
