Description

Position Objective: 

To develop campaigns, generate media coverage, and cultivate celebrity and influencer support to advance PETA Latino’s objectives in South America, with a focus on Colombia and Argentina 


Primary Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Stay on top of regional popular culture and news, and look for opportunities for PETA Latino to get its message in news stories 

• Research opportunities for outreach through media, campaigning, and celebrity and influencer channels 

• Organize celebrity and influencer projects, including photo shoots, and the production and editing of print, radio, and TV commercials, as well as social media campaigns 

• Seek out and maintain relationships with animal rights advocates and groups in South America. Coordinate with those individuals and groups to advance animal rights in their regions

• Organize pro-animal demonstrations in Colombia, Argentina, and the surrounding region 

• Develop and maintain relationships with music and entertainment industry professionals in Colombia, Argentina, and the surrounding region

• Research and engage celebrities and online influencers who are popular in Colombia and Argentina

• Write scripts, ad copy, and text for celebrity correspondence and campaigns 

• Work with the PETA Latino team to brainstorm new projects to ensure ongoing media coverage of PETA Latino’s work 

• Represent the organization to the media in South America

• Develop and maintain relationships with members of the media in South America

• Develop target lists and media strategy, and service news releases for issue and campaign coverage

• Advise PETA Latino’s social media team on region-specific content 

• Travel internationally and domestically on assignments 

• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor 

Requirements

• College degree in communications or a related field, or equivalent experience 

• Minimum of two years of marketing or public relations experience 

• Fluency in English and Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing) 

• Proven interest in and strong working knowledge of Latin American culture 

• Strong public speaking skills and comfort with media interviews 

• Knowledge of animal rights issues and PETA campaigns 

• Sophisticated understanding of creative work 

• Proven ability to conduct and analyze marketing research 

• Proven excellent project management, strategic-thinking, and analytical skills 

• Demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication skills 

• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team 

• Proven ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines 

• Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional manner 

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 

• Professional appearance and adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle 

• Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally 

• Support for PETA's philosophy and the ability to advocate PETA's positions on issues professionally 

• Commitment to the objectives of the organization 


  

The hourly pay range for this position is $21.23 - $26.55 per hour. The ultimate hourly pay within this range that will be offered to a qualified candidate will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and the cost of living in the area in which the candidate will live and work.
