Description
A K-5 Physical Education teacher develops fundamental motor skills, physical fitness, and healthy lifestyle habits in elementary students. Responsibilities include planning, age-appropriate, inclusive lessons, managing gym equipment safety, and fostering sportsmanship all within the framework of our mission as a Catholic school.
Salary Range dependent upon experience and degree $38,000-$55,000
Requirements
- Curriculum & Instruction: Develop and implement K-5 age-appropriate PE curriculum focusing on fundamental motor skills, movement, and physical literacy.
- Skill Development: Teach basic sports skills, agility, coordination, and team-based activities.
- Safety & Maintenance: Maintain a safe, clean environment and ensure equipment is properly used and maintained.
- Student Assessment: Evaluate, document, and report student progress, participation, and skill development.
- Inclusivity: Adapt activities to accommodate students with varying abilities, needs, and backgrounds.
- Promotion of Health: Motivate students to adopt a healthy, active lifestyle
- Faith Formation: Infuse Catholic teachings in lessons for students and participate in ongoing catechetical formation as a teacher.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently standing, walking, and moving around a gym or outdoor field.
- Occasional lifting and handling of sports equipment.
Work Environment
- The role involves working both indoors in a gymnasium and outdoors.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field, plus state-required teaching licensure/certification.
- Knowledge: Expertise in child development, physical education, and health education.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to work with students, staff, and parents.
