Friday Harbor Drug is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pharmacy Manager to lead our pharmacy team and continue our tradition of exceptional patient care. This role is ideal for a pharmacist who enjoys building meaningful relationships with patients, mentoring a team, and practicing pharmacy in a community focused setting.


As Pharmacy Manager, you will oversee daily pharmacy operations while ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant pharmacy practices. Our pharmacy is deeply rooted in the local community, and we are looking for someone who shares our passion for personalized care and community engagement.

What a Typical Day Looks Like

  • Leading a team of pharmacists and technicians to provide exceptional patient care
  • Reviewing and verifying prescriptions for accuracy and appropriateness
  • Counseling patients on medication therapy, side effects, and drug interactions
  • Collaborating with healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes
  • Managing pharmacy workflow and ensuring smooth daily operations
  • Building lasting relationships with members of the Friday Harbor community

Responsibilities

Pharmacy Operations

  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations including workflow management and staffing
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws, DEA regulations, and Washington State Pharmacy Board requirements
  • Maintain safe pharmacy practices and accurate record keeping

Medication Management

  • Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy and clinical appropriateness
  • Ensure medications are dispensed safely and efficiently
  • Provide patient counseling regarding medication use, side effects, and interactions

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and support pharmacy staff including pharmacists, technicians, and support personnel
  • Ensure proper training and adherence to pharmacy policies and procedures
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture

Inventory and Quality Management

  • Monitor pharmacy inventory and manage medication ordering
  • Minimize waste and manage expired medications appropriately
  • Maintain quality assurance programs to support safe pharmacy practices

Collaboration and Patient Care

  • Work with physicians and healthcare providers to support optimal medication therapy
  • Promote patient safety initiatives and community health programs

Operational and Financial Oversight

  • Support pharmacy financial performance through effective inventory management and billing oversight
  • Implement cost conscious operational practices

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited pharmacy school
  • Active and unrestricted Washington State pharmacist license or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • Immunization certification as required by Washington State law
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a pharmacist
  • 1 to 2 years of leadership or management experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws and regulatory compliance
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) or pharmacy manager
  • Experience managing pharmacy financials and inventory
  • Familiarity with community based pharmacy practice, particularly in rural or underserved areas
