The Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Coordinator supports Region 2 North healthcare partners in strengthening emergency preparedness, response coordination, and communication systems across the regional healthcare network. This position works collaboratively with long-term care facilities, home health and hospice agencies, hospitals, EMS agencies, and other healthcare organizations to improve readiness and response capabilities during public health emergencies and large-scale incidents.
The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator assists in planning, training, communication, and emergency response coordination to enhance the region’s ability to manage large-scale healthcare emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Region 2 North long-term care, home health and hospice, hospitals, EMS agencies, and other healthcare organizations in developing and strengthening comprehensive emergency operations plans.
- Supports communication and coordination efforts that enhance regional readiness to respond to incidents involving large numbers of casualties.
- Assist in planning and facilitation of healthcare preparedness training programs and emergency exercises.
- Supports regional initiatives to improve emergency response coordination and communication capabilities among healthcare partners.
- Assist Region 2 North with the use of electronic communication and collaboration platforms such as the R2N website, MI-HAN, EM Systems, MICIMS, and other emergency management systems.
- Attends and participates in required regional meetings and partner engagements.
- In the event of a declared emergency, the coordinator must be available to respond on a 24/7 basis as part of the Regional Medical Coordination Center (RMCC) team.
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in:
- Emergency Preparedness
- Healthcare Administration
- Communications
- Business Administration
- Or a related field.
- Applicants must be presently authorized to work in the United States.
- Must have and maintained an active driver’s license.
