The Core Compliance Manager manages a team responsible for responding to consumer complaints and outside exam activity with departments of insurance or bureaus; providing compliance advice to business partners; reporting on compliance issues and trends; maintaining policies and procedures; and enhancing the workers’ compensation compliance framework.

Job Responsibilities


  • Oversee the Consumer Affairs team focusing on complaint management and handling. 
  • Lead and oversee the external exam/audit process with departments of insurance and bureaus. Be the first point of contact for exams, audits, and data calls.  
  • Provide compliance consultation for business partners. Aid business partners in solution scoping and risk management.  
  • Report and prepare trend analysis on compliance issues. Draft summary and trend reports for upper management to include compliance strengths and weaknesses, and actionable suggestions for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of compliance policies and procedures. Responsible for development of compliance repositories and warehouses.  
  • Lead and oversee the development of a compliance framework for the workers’ compensation line of business. Lead the compliance resource dedicated to workers' compensation.  
  • Use leadership and managerial skills to lead, mentor, and develop a team of compliance professionals.
  • Attend all leadership calls and oversee effective communication direction and priorities concerning complex regulatory activity that impacts any products and/or product related forms to ensure timely and accurate compliance with state insurance laws and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain efficient processes, procedures, and measurements for timely and accurate reporting.
  • Support other compliance teams as needed or required. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications


Required Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school a plus. 
  • At least 5+ years of regulatory/compliance experience, with significant experience in the commercial insurance industry required. 
  • The successful candidate will have ideally managed and developed teams of people, showcasing the ability to effectively communicate, influence, and train.
  • Prior experience with Workers’ Compensation and/or Commercial Auto insurance policies is a plus.
  • Familiarity with insurance policy forms.
  • Knowledge of the insurance claims lifecycle and relevant state guidelines is preferred.

  • A proven track record in a fast-paced start up environment is ideal. Must be comfortable “building the plane as you fly it”, building processes from scratch, and working in the grey.

In accordance with pay transparency laws and regulations, the following good faith compensation range estimate is being provided. The salary range for this position is $140,000-$175,000 per year. Final compensation will be based on candidate qualifications, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.
