Walton Arts Center Inc. operates two campuses: a 1,200-seat proscenium theatre and 269-seat black box in Fayetteville and an 11,000-capacity outdoor Amphitheatre known as the Walmart AMP in Rogers, AR. Position Overview

The Assistant Food & Beverage Director plays a key leadership role in supporting the Director of F&B in overseeing all food and beverage operations within the Walmart AMP and Walton Arts Center. This includes concessions, lounges, bars, catering, banquets, and special events. This role requires a hands-on approach in delivering superior service, maintaining high standards, and driving profitability while fostering a culture of excellence

Principal Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Direct oversite of the Food & Beverage Management Team. 
  • Direct oversite of all AMP & WAC Food & Beverage facilities.  
  • Direct oversite of the food and beverage payroll. 
  • Direct oversite and maintenance of the point-of-sale menu item creation, vending location creation, product category creation, software/hardware updates, and the distribution of all POS hardware to appropriate vending locations. 
  • Assist the Director of Food and Beverage with the capital budget, AMP concert budgets, WAC show budgets, and WAC special event budgets. 
  • Assist the Director of Food and Beverage with the recruitment, training, and coaching of all Food and Beverage staff on best practices, cleanliness, and responsible alcohol service. 
  • Determine staffing needs for each show or event and schedule staff accordingly. 
  • Delegate, oversee, and provide direction to staff during event operations for set-up and close-down. 
  • Communicate company policy, standards, and procedures and ensure staff operate accordingly. 
  • Monitor best practices for pours, recipes, and beverage standards. 
  • Verify all hygiene and cleanliness standards are met and maintained before, during, and after events. 
  • Resolve customer complaints promptly. 
  • Understand operating point of sale for both venues including voids, stand sheets, opening and closing inventory, point of sale functions, and event reports. 
  • Assist the Food and Beverage Purchasing Manager with inventory and ordering supplies at both venues as needed, check-in deliveries and ensure proper documentation is complete. 
  • Cultivate good relationships with suppliers and sales representatives as required. 
  • Oversee bar layouts and displays to maximize functionality and attractiveness. 
  • Assist the Director of Food and Beverage with generating and presenting financials for end of show reports for both WAC and AMP shows. 
  • Maintain regular communication with staff and management through meetings and discussions. 
  • Represent Walton Arts Center / Walmart AMP at both on and off-site events, as requested.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with teammates, fellow staff members from other departments, vendors, patrons, and tenants of leased spaces.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor 
  • Maintain security and safety requirements as defined by operations guidelines. 
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

Education, Training, Traits

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Capable of managing multiple, overlapping events, at multiple venues. 
  • Arkansas Beverage Certification required. 
  • Serve Save Certification required. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Must be detail oriented with excellent written and spoken communication skills. 
  • Flexibility with hours including early mornings, nights, and weekends. Occasional overtime will be required. 
  • Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced work environment. 
  • Comfortable with consistently adhering to the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, ethics and confidentiality.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently as well as with others to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. 
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards

Work Experience

  • 3-5 years minimum in managing multi-unit facilities. Preferably in a large venue or high-volume sales location. 
  • 3-5 years Event Planning, Organizing, and Management preferred. 

Physical

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly (on telephone)
  • Must have a working cell phone and be willing to install basic applications and be willing to use it for work purposes
  • Must be able to endure sitting or standing for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to endure standing or walking for extended periods of time on various surfaces such as concrete, grass, and inclined surfaces. 
  • Must be able to endure outdoor elements including cold, heat, wind, and/or precipitation
  • Must be able to work in large, crowded environments, with flashing lights, loud music and noises, pyrotechnics, and cannons as part of shows and events
Salary Description
$65,000 - $74,000
