This full-time position supports the Office of Naval Research (ONR). The Program Specialist – Science Director (SD) will provide program and administrative support to the ONR Global Science Director Program.
The selected candidate will accept technical tasking and task prioritization direction from the ONR Global Science Director Program Manager, who will serve as the Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) for this position. The role will support the administration, execution, and evaluation of Science Director program initiatives, including coordination of program activities, preparation of briefings, and maintenance of program documentation and administrative records.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, possess experience supporting U.S. Government Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) programs, and have the ability to work effectively with senior military, civilian, academic, and research leadership supporting ONR’s global science and technology mission.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level security clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree with at least seven (7) years of relevant work experience, OR Associate’s degree with at least ten (10) years of U.S. Government RDT&E program support experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency managing customer requirements across a broad range of program and administrative support tasks, including briefing preparation and maintaining program administrative history and documentation.
- Experience supporting the administration, execution, and evaluation of management or program initiatives.
- Professional maturity and ability to interact daily with senior military and civilian leadership, including O-6, GS-15, and Director-level personnel across ONR Global S&T partner organizations, ONR Headquarters staff, University Affiliated Research Centers (UARCs), CONUS-based universities, and members of the Naval Research and Development Establishment (NR&DE).
- Demonstrated proficiency in planning, scheduling, and managing conferences and multi-day meetings.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while supporting ONR leadership and program stakeholders.
Desired additional qualifications:
- Working knowledge of the Naval Research and Development Establishment (NR&DE).
