About Turnwell Mental Health Network
Turnwell Mental Health Network is a fast-growing behavioral health company partnering with residential treatment centers, detox programs, IOPs, PHPs, and other behavioral health facilities to provide medical director, psychiatric, and clinical coverage services. We are building a national network of partnerships and are looking for a seasoned executive to lead that effort.
Role Overview
The Head of Facility Partnerships is a senior business development role responsible for identifying, developing, and closing Medical Director and Professional Services Agreement (PSA) contracts with behavioral health treatment facilities across the United States. This person will be the primary driver of Turnwell's facility pipeline — sourcing new partners, leading commercial negotiations, and managing relationships from initial outreach through executed agreement.
This is a high-impact, quota-bearing role that sits at the intersection of business development, contracting, and clinical operations. The ideal candidate has deep existing relationships in the addiction treatment and behavioral health space and understands the operational and regulatory dynamics that govern facility-level clinical partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Pipeline Development: Identify and pursue Medical Director and PSA opportunities across residential treatment, detox, IOP, PHP, and other behavioral health settings nationwide.
- Outreach & Prospecting: Build and manage a robust pipeline through direct outreach, industry events, referral networks, and strategic partnerships.
- Commercial Negotiation: Lead contract discussions with facility operators, ownership groups, and C-suite stakeholders, negotiating service scope, compensation structures, and agreement terms in coordination with legal and clinical leadership.
- Agreement Execution: Shepherd PSA and Medical Director agreements from term sheet through fully executed contract, coordinating with internal operations, compliance, and legal teams.
- Market Mapping: Maintain a structured view of the behavioral health facility landscape by state, ownership, licensure level, and partnership status; identify white space and prioritize target markets.
- Relationship Management: Serve as the primary relationship owner for facility partners post-close, ensuring smooth onboarding and long-term partnership health.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with clinical staffing, credentialing, compliance, and finance to ensure Turnwell can deliver on commitments made during the sales process.
- Reporting & Forecasting: Track pipeline activity, deal stages, and closed contract metrics; report to senior leadership on a regular cadence.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 10 years of experience in behavioral health, addiction treatment, or adjacent healthcare services, with direct exposure to facility-level business development, contracting, or operations.
- Demonstrated track record of sourcing and closing PSA, medical director, or clinical services contracts with behavioral health or substance use disorder (SUD) treatment facilities.
- Deep familiarity with behavioral health facility types (residential/RTC, detox, IOP, PHP, MAT, TMS, sober living, etc.) and the ASAM continuum of care.
- Working knowledge of the commercial and regulatory dynamics governing medical director arrangements, including anti-kickback and fair market value considerations.
- Experience negotiating complex service agreements with multi-facility operators, private equity-backed treatment networks, and independent owners.
- Established relationships across the behavioral health operator and ownership community.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to represent Turnwell credibly at the executive level.
Preferred
- Background in behavioral health management companies, physician practice management, or clinical staffing/outsourcing.
- Familiarity with multi-state licensing, credentialing workflows, and healthcare compliance frameworks.
- Experience working in or alongside a PE-backed or venture-backed growth-stage healthcare company.
- Existing relationships across Turnwell's primary markets; willingness to develop and expand into new markets nationwide.
Compensation
- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
- Uncapped commission on closed Medical Director and PSA contracts
- Benefits package including health, dental, vision, and PTO
- Remote-first with travel expected (~25–40% depending on pipeline activity)
