Description

We are seeking an Estimator to support our New Systems team by delivering accurate and competitive project estimates. This role focuses on both design-build and plan & spec refrigeration and mechanical projects and may involve collaboration with internal Sales and Engineering teams as well as direct coordination with General Contractors. 


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed estimates for refrigeration and mechanical construction and retrofit projects by analyzing drawings, specifications, RFPs, and on-site conditions.
  • Perform material takeoffs, labor calculations, and cost analysis; coordinate with vendors and subcontractors for accurate pricing.
  • Develop and write clear subcontractor scopes of work.
  • Conduct site visits and attend pre-bid walkthroughs as required, including roof access when necessary.
  • Create comprehensive project budgets, bid proposals, and cost breakdowns, supported by detailed documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and sales teams to align estimates with project goals and company strategy.
  • Develop, maintain and update standard estimating tools and historical cost databases.
  • Monitor industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and code changes.
  • Lead internal bid strategy meetings and coordinate deliverables for awarded projects with the Systems Team.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience (field or internship) in construction estimating.
  • Solid understanding of MEP systems and subcontractor scope alignment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and strategic planning skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Procure, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Willingness to travel, as needed. Anticipated 10% travel to visit jobsite and attend pre-bid meetings. Amount of travel will be based on project and applicant's location.
