Speech-Language Pathologist

Children’s Academy is looking for a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist! Strong CF candidates will also be considered.

Children's Academy is a private K-12 school designed for children with speech and language differences. In alignment with CA's unique collaborative model, SLPs take on a critical classroom-based role in order to support students' speech and language skills throughout their school day. The SLP will join a strong department of experienced SLPs that have access to the most up-to-date research and continuing education.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Observe and assess all students’ speech and language needs on an ongoing basis
  • Treat students individually for speech and language needs, including receptive language, expressive language, speech/articulation, AAC, oral motor issues, pragmatic language, schematic play, voice/fluency, feeding, etc.
  • Write comprehensive reports, including initial evaluations, mid-year progress reports, and final end of year evaluations
  • Maintain daily session data
  • Create relevant and functional speech goals for inclusion on the child's IEP
  • Collaborate with grade level and classroom staff as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Co-teach ELA/Literacy class with special education teacher
  • Lead social skills group

The SLP's job responsibilities are listed as follows: 


Minimum Requirements: 

  • Valid License as a Speech-Language Pathologist in New York 
  • School experience, 
  • Maintain a clear criminal record 
  • Exhibit superior organizational skills

Preferred Skills: 

  • Working knowledge of gestalt language processing 
  • Experience using a variety of AAC programs 
  • Foundational awareness of apraxia treatments (PROMPT training will be provided)

License/Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (Required)

Salary Description
$72,000.00 - $78,000.00
