THE ORGANIZATION


A private nonprofit organization founded in 1973, Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA) is a large agency that is part of the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) nationwide network. Founded as a result of the federal Older Americans Act, the AAAs are mandated to “facilitate the area-wide development and implementation of a comprehensive, coordinated system for providing long-term care in home and community-based settings, in a manner responsive to the needs and preferences of older individuals and their family caregivers.” PCA carries out this mission through advocacy, stewardship of public funding, planning, development and administration of programs, and service coordination.

Requirements


Description of Role: Under the supervision of the Packing Supervisor, is responsible for assembling, packing, and organizing meals and complements for delivery to home-delivered meal consumers.


Required Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience working in a food service or production facility preferred. 


Job Requirements: 

a. Assembles and packages meals and complements for delivery to home-delivered meal consumers. 

b. Maintains a clean and orderly work area. 

c. Assists with transporting meals to and from storage areas.

d. Assists with organizing meals according to delivery routes. 

e. Assists drivers with loading and unloading meals as required. 

f. Performs other duties as assigned.


Professional Characteristics:

  • Basic math and reading skills.
  • Ability to take direction in English. 
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds, and stand for extended periods of time. 
  • Ability to work well with others. 
  • Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and safety practices a plus.

Additional Requirements:

1. Performs consistently in all aspects of work assignments. 

2. Maintains good attendance record.
