Description
The R&D Test Engineer is a hands-on role responsible for testing and validating new and existing products in an in-house lab. The engineer uses equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and DMMs, integrates test systems using LabVIEW and Python, and develops automated testing setups. They design and execute test plans to meet UL safety standards, collect and analyze data, and report results. The role also supports prototyping, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, building test fixtures, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams and external test facilities to ensure products meet performance and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Experience with test equipment (DMM, power supply, oscilloscope)
- Experience integrating test equipment and data acquisition hardware using LabVIEW and Python
- Conduct engineering tests, collect test data, write and present reports of test results using MS Office suite
- Maintain working knowledge of the current and new UL standards that are applicable to CTI equipment
- Understand UL Requirements for each project and tailor test plans to meet the chosen standard
- Periodically travel to third-party test facilities to witness tests
- Support senior engineers with data collection, prototyping, testing, and documentation
- Build automated testing systems for production testing
- Plan, draw, and fabricate housings, jigs, fittings, fixtures, test cables, and other devices to assist in testing, manufacturing, and assembly
- Troubleshoot issues (processes, setups, and some product issues) in manufacturing; assist manufacturing with troubleshooting issues and run troubleshooting experiments for engineering to determine the root cause of failure
- Design test procedures to meet product requirements (e.g. functionalities, timing, safety standards)
Requirements
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in the engineering fields of Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical or related field, or equivalent experience (required)
- Basic understanding of core engineering principles and development tools
- Excellent organizational skills

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to read/understand schematics, PCBs, and mechanical drawings
