Onsite Psychiatrist (Contract Position)

Schedule: Monday – Friday (with on-call requirements)
Position Overview
Venesco, LLC is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrist to provide onsite psychiatric services to veterans at the Department of Veterans Affairs medical facility in Memphis, TN.
This role involves delivering comprehensive, high-quality psychiatric care in a setting that meets or exceeds national standards, supporting both inpatient and outpatient mental health services.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Patient Care (Approx. 95%)
Inpatient Psychiatry
- Admit, evaluate, diagnose, and treat psychiatric patients
- Develop and manage individualized treatment plans
- Collaborate with VA mental health staff
- Perform discharge and transfer planning
- Complete all required medical documentation
Outpatient Psychiatry
- Evaluate new patient referrals and review medical records
- Provide care for patients with severe mental illness
- Conduct e-consults and follow-up visits
- Ensure post-discharge follow-up within 30 days
Clinic & Residential Services
- Provide direct patient care in clinic settings
- Examine patients and interpret diagnostic reports
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation
- Manage a daily caseload of approximately:
- 6 patients (1-hour appointments), or
- 12 patients (30-minute appointments), or a combination
Administrative Duties (Approx. 5%)
- Attend required staff meetings
- Participate in peer reviews, including:
- Case reviews
- Patient complaints
- Tort claims
- Benefit appeals
On-Call Coverage
- Provide after-hours coverage (evenings, weekends, holidays)
- Be available:
- Within 15 minutes by phone
- Onsite within 60 minutes if required
Work Schedule
- Clinic Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Inpatient Psychiatry: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- On-Call: Nights, weekends, and holidays
Requirements
Required Qualification
Licensure
- Active, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
- No history of license suspension, restriction, or revocation
Board Certification
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
Certifications
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (or equivalent)
Technical Skills
- Strong clinical and diagnostic skills in psychiatry
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
- Competency in medical documentation and EMR systems
Additional Requirements
- Ability to meet VA credentialing and privileging requirements
- Provide documentation of:
- Education and training history
- Clinical competency
- Any gaps in employment or education
- Adhere to VA Medical Staff Bylaws and facility policies
