Summary of Duties
The Next Generation Pastor is responsible for developing and implementing an integrated approach to spiritual health and authentic Christian community for middle schoolers, high schoolers and young adults. This person will work with the ministry directors for each demographic, creating spaces for students and young adults to grow in community and grow in their understanding of God and relationship with him.
Essential Functions
- Create a comprehensive strategy for reaching the next generation - middle schoolers, high schoolers and young adults - and implement that vision with the students and young adults teams.
- Supervise Students and Young Adults team members, providing training, support, and conducting bi-annual team performance reviews
- Oversee Students and Young Adults budget development and implementation for both ministry and personnel
- Student discipleship and leadership development
- Collaborate with the Students team to develop volunteer leaders for Students’ Ministry
- Effectively identify, deploy, train, and support all program and event volunteers
- Collaborate with Students team to ensure execution of student ministry programs and activities
- Large group student gatherings
- Special events for students
- Student camps
- Any other scheduled student ministry events and activities
- Collaborate with the young adults team to ensure execution of ministry programs and activities for young adults.
- Create on-campus opportunities with students, for students at both Western Washington University and Whatcom Community College campuses
- Regular worship gatherings
- Opportunities to grow in community
- Regular learning settings - classes, workshops, etc. for Young Adults to participate in together
- Collaborate with Children’s ministries to ensure healthy discipleship and development through life stage hand-offs
- Serve as a member of the Adults Ministry team, collaborating whenever possible and helping to bridge the gap between Next Generation Ministries and Adults Ministries
- Serve as a member of the Bellingham Pastoral team
- Perform all Pastoral duties including but not limited to serving as Pastor on Call and Commons duties during Sunday services
- Perform sacerdotal functions, including but not limited to, serving communions, conducting worship, leading meetings, etc
- You are a messenger/teacher conveying CTK's mission and its understanding of faith.

- Demonstrated competency: Strength of character and healthy spirituality
- Commitment to CTK’s mission, values, and ongoing themes and goals
- Passion for the local church and CTK philosophy of ministry
- Proven track record of success in equipping teams and leaders; able to network and recruit.
- Demonstrated track record of hard work, professional accountability, clear communication, healthy conflict resolution, and positive attitude in a variety of settings
- Leadership (has experience effectively leading both paid staff and volunteers)
- Team Building (has experience building teams to implement pre-determined sets of work)
- Management and Supervision (has experience with direct supervision of paid staff; is consistent, unbiased, impartial, kind yet firm, and dedicated to a process, as well as results)
