Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America (SBA) is the largest pro-life political organization in the country with a nationwide network of more than one million Americans. We combine politics with policy, investing heavily in voter education to ensure that pro-life Americans know where their lawmakers stand on protecting the unborn, and in issue advocacy, advancing pro-life laws through direct lobbying and grassroots campaigns.

Essential Functions 

• Lead the organization’s internal legal efforts.
• Develop legal strategy to advance SBA’s short-term and long-term policy priorities.  
• Track and analyze priority cases. 
• Spearhead amicus brief efforts. 
• Liaison between SBA (c4) and CLI (c3) legal efforts.  
• Liaison between Gov’t Affairs and other teams on legal issues as they arise.  
• Spearhead judicial vetting. 
• Assist SBA’s communications team in communicating to the public about priority cases/legal issues.  
• Lead the organization’s external legal affairs.  
• Build relationships with conservative/pro-life legal networks. 
• Build relationships with key attorneys on Capitol Hill in coordination with SBA’s federal affairs team.   
• Build state-level relationships with key Governor, Attorneys General offices.  
• Assist SBA Government Affairs team with coalition management.  
• Assist with policy formation and review at federal & state level. 
• Work with SBA’s federal affairs team to analyze and propose federal policy, both Congressional and Administrative. 
• Assist State Affairs with high priority efforts at state level.

• Demonstrated knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes. 
• Demonstrated knowledge of how state and federal courts operate and the ability to analyze court documents. 
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
• Must be a team player. 
• Experience working in the pro-life movement.  
• Must be pro-life.  

Preferred Education/Experience 

• Prior policy and/or legal experience is preferred.  
• Previous experience speaking with media is a plus. 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications 

• Bilingual candidates would be a benefit. 

Supervisory Responsibility 

This position supervises a legal intern when applicable.

Position Type/Expected Hours  

This position is a full-time position. Hours are typically 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday-Friday. 

Some weekend and evening work may be required.

Travel 

This position requires regular travel for meetings, events, and field operations. Employee should expect up to 20% of their time to be devoted to traveling.
