Job Title: Youth Leadership & Service Manager

Department: Programs 

Reports To: Director of Programming 

FLSA Status: Full-Time, Exempt 

Direct Reports: 12 Part-Time Youth Mentors Work Schedule: 100% Onsite | Some evenings and occasional weekends required


Position Summary

The Youth Leadership & Service Manager provides leadership and oversight for RCCYC’s mentorship and youth leadership programming. This role develops and manages a team of part-time mentors who support youth through leadership development, service learning, character development, and life-skills programming.


Working under the guidance of the Director of Programming, the Youth Leadership & Service Manager ensures that mentorship and youth engagement activities align with the ROCK Initiative’s four pillars: Education, Financial Literacy, Housing Stability Awareness, and Community Engagement.


This role focuses on cultivating leadership, service, and civic responsibility in youth while creating a safe, structured, and supportive environment that empowers young people to grow academically, socially, and spiritually.


Key Responsibilities

Youth Leadership Programming

  •  Develop and implement youth leadership programming that builds confidence, responsibility, and civic engagement among RCCYC participants.
  •  Facilitate programs focused on leadership development, service learning, mentorship, and community impact.
  •  Create opportunities for youth to participate in community service, volunteerism, and leadership experiences.
  •  Support youth in developing skills related to communication, teamwork, decision-making, and problem-solving.

Mentor Supervision & Development

  •  Recruit, train, and supervise a team of 12 part-time youth mentors.
  •  Provide regular coaching, feedback, and professional development to mentors.
  •  Conduct weekly team meetings to align staff on programming goals and youth engagement strategies.
  •  Monitor mentor performance and ensure consistent engagement with youth participants.

Program Implementation & Oversight

  •  Ensure youth leadership and mentorship activities align with RCCYC programming goals and grant requirements.
  •  Work collaboratively with the Director of Programming to implement program schedules, curriculum, and activities.
  •  Monitor youth participation, engagement, and behavioral expectations within programs.
  •  Maintain accurate records of program attendance, activities, and outcomes.

Youth Engagement & Relationship Building

  •  Build meaningful relationships with youth participants and serve as a positive role model.
  •  Foster a culture of respect, inclusion, accountability, and encouragement among youth and staff.
  •  Support youth in identifying personal goals, leadership potential, and pathways for future success.

Community & Service Partnerships

  •  Collaborate with community organizations to create service-learning and leadership opportunities for youth.
  •  Coordinate youth participation in community service projects, volunteer initiatives, and leadership events.
  •  Partner with schools and community groups to expand youth engagement opportunities.

Safety & Compliance

  •  Ensure compliance with RCCYC policies related to youth safety, supervision ratios, background checks, and mandatory reporting.
  •  Maintain a safe and structured program environment for all youth participants.
  •  Support the Director of Programming in maintaining program documentation required for grants and reporting.

Qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Youth Development, Education, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field preferred but not required.
  •  Minimum 3–5 years of experience working with youth programs, mentorship programs, or community-based organizations.
  •  Demonstrated experience supervising staff, volunteers, or mentors.
  •  Strong leadership and relationship-building skills with youth from diverse backgrounds.
  •  Experience developing youth leadership, service-learning, or mentorship programs preferred.
  •  Strong organizational and communication skills.
  •  Ability to motivate and develop youth and staff in a positive, structured environment.
  •  Commitment to the mission and values of Eastern Star Church and the ROCK Initiative.

Work Environment

  •  Position is 100% onsite at the ROCK Community Center for Youth and Children.
  •  Work hours may include afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends based on youth programming schedules.
  •  Role involves active engagement with youth in program spaces, events, and community service activities.
