Description

Role: In this role, you will work with the Cloud and Infrastructure team to design, build, and maintain both the existing on-premises infrastructure and the organization’s cloud environment in Microsoft Azure. As Blaze transitions to an Azure-first architecture, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and administering the cloud platform in a way that supports future growth. The ideal candidate brings experience delivering Azure-based solutions along with strong skills in documentation, analysis, process development, and incident resolution. This role also serves as a liaison between cross-functional business and technology teams, translating complex business requirements into practical technical solutions and system designs while supporting testing, deployment, and ongoing infrastructure operations.


Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, administer, monitor, and enhance foundational enterprise infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments, including services in Microsoft Azure.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in your domain, combining deep technical proficiency with the ability to communicate clearly and translate broad requirements into deliverable work items.
  • Develop and maintain automation using scripting tools such as PowerShell to streamline recurring tasks and operational processes.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation including knowledge base articles, runbooks, SOPs, architecture diagrams, and as-built documentation.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for infrastructure incidents, outages, and escalations.
  • Work with business stakeholders, project teams, and technical staff to analyze requirements and design, test, and implement new systems or enhancements to existing platforms.
  • Participate in project delivery by managing tasks, milestones, and technical documentation.
  • Take initiative to research emerging technologies, lead proof-of-concept efforts, and develop solutions for complex infrastructure challenges.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Systems team members to develop and maintain operational processes and procedures.
  • Review system and software releases to evaluate new capabilities and identify opportunities to optimize systems, integrations, and workflows.
  • Participate in formal change management and release processes aligned with ITIL Change Management practices.
  • Identify and take advantage of opportunities to train and mentor other members of Information Technology.
  • Represent infrastructure recommendations to leadership and communicate technical risks, impacts, and mitigation strategies in business terms.
  • Champion team success over individual accomplishment.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, internal stakeholders, and technology leaders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Experience/Education/Certifications/Licenses

  • Minimum 6+ years of infrastructure or systems engineering experience including support of on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant industry certifications preferred (AZ-104, AZ-305 helpful).
  • Candidates with experience in hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) or Azure Local are strongly preferred


Demonstrated Knowledge

  • Experience working within project management and agile delivery methodologies.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and initiative in learning new technologies and improving infrastructure practices.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure architecture and design across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.
  • Experience designing, deploying, and supporting infrastructure workloads in Microsoft Azure, including compute, networking, storage, monitoring, and identity services.
  • Knowledge of enterprise identity and access management including Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and hybrid identity integrations using Microsoft Entra Connect.
  • Experience supporting enterprise collaboration and messaging platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive.
  • Experience developing infrastructure automation using scripting tools such as PowerShell.
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for provisioning and managing cloud resources using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or Azure Resource Manager templates.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including DNS, TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, and DHCP, with the ability to troubleshoot complex connectivity issues.
  • Experience supporting virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery, business continuity, and high availability design principles.
  • Experience operating within structured IT operational frameworks such as ITIL including change management and incident management practices.
  • Ability to evaluate new technologies, perform proof-of-concept testing, and recommend infrastructure improvements.
  • Ability to analyze system dependencies and downstream integrations to evaluate change impacts and troubleshoot incidents.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor peers, collaborate across teams, and contribute to a high-performance engineering culture

Communication Skills

  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong written communication skills for producing technical documentation such as runbooks, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate system changes, risks, and recommendations.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit and stand; answer calls; operate computer; interact with internal staff and public on the phone; travel to designated offices; lift up to 20 lbs

We are committed to providing salary ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on your experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity considerations.


The salary range for this position is: $91,399-$115,000. This range reflects the base salary for this position. We have other benefits associated with this position which include: low-cost medical (as low as $20 a paycheck), dental insurance, vision insurance, quarterly bonuses, generous vacation and sick time hours, paid leave options, up to 6% 401k contribution, and tuition reimbursement.
