As an Associate Consultant (internally titled Director of Donor Relations and Experience), you will use your expertise to provide support to clients from healthcare systems and academic medical centers, colleges and universities, arts and cultural organizations, and many other nonprofits to advance their missions. This role will work with client-facing teams and contributes to the success of client projects by developing and delivering materials that support donor engagement and stewardship. Collaborating with colleagues across the organization, you will take ownership of creating communications, reports, and donor relations and experience resources that strengthen donor relationships and advance client goals.


In this role, you will be responsible for producing high-quality deliverables, assisting with the creation and implementation of report recommendations, donor engagement strategies and other related services, while applying data and insights to refine project outcomes. Your ability to manage projects, collaborate effectively, and deliver consistent results will play an important part in supporting our clients’ fundraising efforts and enhancing their impact within the community.


This position will rely heavily on project management experience, ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines, and proactive time management. The ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment, and accountability for various processes and projects is crucial. Excellent writing skills are critical to support projects that require written work product. Strong communication and presentation skills are necessary to engage with clients.

 

Requirements
  • Perform client work as a part of a team, and independently as needed.
  • Conduct assessments and subsequent deliverables in areas of donor relations and experience.
  • Serve as a key project team member for multi-team engagements in defined roles as outlined in project scope and as defined by the project engagement manager.
  • Contributes ideas and support innovative approaches to problem solving. 
  • Collaborate regularly with internal team members and clients to ensure delivery of cohesive and quality work product delivered by deadline.
  • Meet utilization goals related to billable client work. 
  • Support company-generated thought leadership by creating written content and engage in speaking opportunities to promote expertise in philanthropy through firm and industry publications, conferences, or events.
  • Participate in ongoing internal activities as a productive and active member of the firm. These may include orientation and ongoing trainings, firm-wide client review meetings, and other skill-building activities.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of methodology for managed service annual giving and digital marketing deliverable ensuring that team members adopt methodology.
  • Support company-generated thought leadership by creating written content and engage in speaking opportunities to promote expertise in philanthropy through firm and industry publications, conferences, or events.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of work experience related to donor relations, donor experience or stewardship in higher education, a healthcare/academic medical center setting, and/or non-profit organization. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative, and a solid strategic thinking ability for report writing.
  • Solid time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Ability to create a strong, positive initial impression and maintain a solid professional credibility.

Compensation and Benefits Annual base salary range of $65,000 to $75,000  (plus bonus potential) based on qualifications and experience. BWF offers a comprehensive benefits package including:

Work Environment/Conditions

This position can be remote or based in our Minneapolis office (locally based employees are encouraged to maintain a hybrid office present).

  • Position requires ability to work in a stationary position for majority of workday.
  • Continuous use of computer.
  • Frequent communication with team and clients via Zoom and in person.
  • This is an exempt position that requires at least 40 hours of work per week but due to the nature of this role, additional hours are required when deadlines need to be met.
  • Overnight travel to client sites, conferences, or company meetings is sometimes required (up to 35%).
