Description


ROLE

To represent the credit union in a professional manner when greeting members and the general public on the phone and in person, insuring that they are directed to someone who can provide them with assistance.



MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Answers phone and directs callers to the appropriate person.
  • Greets the public when they come in the credit union. Determines their needs and directs them to the appropriate person.
  • Maintains assigned records, files and reports as well as assigned administrative responsibilities.
  • Supports overflow needs both within and outside the department, as time allows.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS

  • Follows and supports all compliance rules, regulations and policies at the state and federal levels, as well as all Credit Union policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to safety and security programs designed to minimize loss relating to fraud and robbery.  Follows and contributes to effective Credit Union security by ensuring that negotiable, member information and computer systems are secure at all times.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

  • To greet all visitors in a courteous, friendly, timely, and professional manner.
  • To announce each visitor before directing to the asked-for party, if appropriate.
  • To answer the telephone in an accurate, courteous, friendly, and professional manner.
  • To answer all phone calls within three (3) rings.
  • To direct all phone calls to the appropriate person with minimum transfers.
  • To maintain a professional work environment and businesslike appearance.


Requirements

EDUCATION: A high school education or GED.


EXPERIENCE: Up to six months of similar or related experience.


SKILLS:
Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion.


OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Ten key calculator and computer keyboard skills. Accurate with numbers and names. Strong, friendly voice and good diction.


COMPUTER SKILLS: Basic computer skills.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Simple math.

The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing functions of this job.  The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet, to moderately noisy, where automated equipment is in operation. It is a non-smoking environment.
