YOUR PURPOSE


The AVP of Data Analytics and Business Intelligence is a strategic role responsible for leading the credit union's analytics practice, accelerating data-driven transformation across all business functions, and cultivating a thriving data culture. Reporting to the SVP of Information Technology, this position will architect and execute our vision for enterprise-wide business intelligence, modernize the data infrastructure through cloud-based solutions, and establish advanced analytics capabilities that translate complex data into clear, actionable insights to support strategic decision-making. This leader will champion ethical data governance and responsible data practices, build a high-performing analytics team, and position our credit union as an industry leader in leveraging data to enhance the member experience, optimize operations, and drive sustainable growth using data as a strength. 


YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR


Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute a comprehensive, forward-looking business intelligence and analytics strategy aligned with organizational objectives and member needs
  • Drive the modernization of our data pipeline architecture, transitioning from legacy systems to cloud-based platforms and best-in-class solutions
  • Champion the adoption of advanced analytics capabilities including predictive and prescriptive analytics to inform strategic decisions
  • Evaluate the potential impact, risks, and opportunities of emerging technologies in machine learning, generative AI, and agentic analytics, and advise leadership on responsible and strategic adoption
  • Foster a thriving data culture where data has "a seat at the table" in every strategic decision through training, recognition programs, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team and Data Governance Council on data-driven insights, trends, and opportunities
  • Build and communicate the business case and strategies for analytics investments and initiatives

Operational & Analytical Insights Delivery

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, cloud-based data infrastructure and analytics platforms
  • Oversee the full data lifecycle from ingestion and integration through analysis and visualization
  • Ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability of all business intelligence and data analytic systems and pipelines
  • Drive adoption and optimization of enterprise analytics tools including Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, and other visualization platforms
  • Partner with other departments to ensure seamless integration of data sources across the organization
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies and methodologies to maintain competitive advantage
  • Oversee the development and delivery of dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics capabilities
  • Translate complex data findings into clear, actionable business recommendations
  • Communicate the “why” behind analytics, translating data investments into presentations and data stories that inspire understanding and action
  • Drive the democratization of data across the organization while maintaining appropriate governance
  • Establish KPIs and metrics frameworks to measure organizational and member success
  • Lead advanced analytics initiatives including member segmentation, predictive modeling, risk analytics, and optimization

Data Governance & Compliance

  • Establish and enforce comprehensive data governance frameworks, policies, and standards
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, integrity, and security across all systems and processes
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations including NCUA requirements, data privacy laws, and industry standards
  • Elevate data governance from compliance to trust-building, ensuring transparency, accountability, and ethical stewardship
  • Champion the responsible and ethical use of data, ensuring privacy, transparency, and fairness guide all analytics initiatives
  • Implement data stewardship programs and establish clear ownership and accountability structures
  • Create and maintain data dictionaries, metadata management, and documentation standards

Team Development & Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of data analysts, data engineers/architects, and BI developers
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and data literacy across the organization
  • Foster an open and supportive environment where employees are encouraged to question, learn, and explore through data
  • Develop talent through coaching, training, and career development opportunities
  • Champion organization-wide data literacy programs that help non-technical employees understand, interpret, and use data responsibly
  • Establish clear performance metrics and accountability measures for the analytics team
  • Partner with stakeholders across the organization to understand needs and deliver actionable insights

Our pay values are reflected in our compensation philosophy which rewards individual performance and the potential to contribute to our teams’ overall success long-term.


The full pay range for this position across all the states in which we hire is $93,280-144,584. The figures shown represent the minimum and maximum of the range for this role. Individual offers are made dependent upon a candidate’s experience, education, and skill level.

Requirements


EXPERTISE YOU NEED


Education & Experience


Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or related field required. Master's degree or MBA strongly preferred

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or related fields
  • 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing analytics teams and practices
  • Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale data modernization and cloud migration initiatives
  • Deep expertise with enterprise BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
  • Familiarity with the way enterprise BI platforms are incorporating generative AI and agentic analytics features like Copilot and Tableau Next
  • Extensive experience with data integration tools such as Informatica, Talend, or equivalent ETL/ELT platforms
  • Demonstrated success in establishing and leading data governance programs
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and modern data warehouse/lakehouse architectures
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and database design principles
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational and non-relational databases
  • Knowledge of programming languages commonly used in analytics (Python, R, or similar)
  • Familiarity with modern data stack components, including data orchestration, transformation, and observability tools
  • Understanding of machine learning concepts and AI/ML implementation in business contexts
  • Experience with API integrations and real-time data processing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in financial services, credit unions, or banking industry
  • Knowledge of credit union operations, regulations, and member service models
  • Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or related field
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CDMP, cloud certifications, Tableau/Power BI certifications)
  • Experience with specialized financial analytics including credit risk, ALM, member lifetime value, or fraud detection
  • Familiarity with core banking systems and credit union technology ecosystems
  • Experience implementing self-service analytics and data democratization initiatives
