The Director of Marketing and Recruitment leads the marketing and physician recruitment strategy for the OCR Enterprise, driving patient growth, physician recruitment, brand positioning, and community engagement across a multi-site and vertically integrated orthopedic organization. Partners with executive leadership and physicians to align marketing initiatives with organizational goals, service line growth, and long-term market expansion. 

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Director of Marketing and Recruitment will establish the written objectives for the marketing department. The objectives will be updated/reviewed yearly, shared with leadership and the respective Marketing Committees, and used to guide the strategic initiatives and decision making of the department.

   

Key Focus Area: Marketing

· Leads and collaborates with marketing team on all traditional and digital marketing efforts, including print and online advertising, public relations, communications, community relations, and media relations.

· Leads development, execution, and analysis of multi-channel marketing campaigns in collaboration with the marketing team, physician liaisons and strategic partners, leveraging SEO, social media, inbound marketing, email, print, and events to drive patient acquisition and brand awareness.

· Works in close collaboration with external marketing partners to develop and execute integrated campaigns across digital and traditional channels, ensuring alignment with brand strategy and organizational priorities.

· Provides strategic leadership for marketing initiatives, aligning campaigns with organizational growth priorities, service line expansion, and market positioning.

· Develops and executes go-to-market strategies for new physicians, services, and geographic growth opportunities.

· Manages OCR’s brand presence and professional image in the community, ensuring consistency across all locations and channels.

· Establishes brand standards and messaging frameworks to maintain a cohesive and recognizable organizational identity.

· Directs OCR’s outside marketing and oversees all advertising vendors and publication relationships

· Leads high-impact community and sports partnerships (CSU Athletics, Blue Arena, Moby Gym, etc.) to enhance brand visibility and community engagement.

         o Manages OCR Suite, Field Club video, video board advertising, and marketing trade agreements.

         o Collaborates with Director of Sports Medicine Outreach on physician coverage and asset/ticket distribution.

· Directly manages the OCR website, including content updates, patient communication workflows, online forms, and performance tracking, while working closely with marketing team external agencies on website development, enhancements, and ongoing optimization.

· Supports digital transformation initiatives, including website optimization, online scheduling, patient access tools, and EMR-integrated marketing strategies, in collaboration with internal teams and external agency partners.

· Writes press releases, marketing collateral, and communication pieces.

· Leads design and guides production of all print and digital creative assets, working closely with the Marketing Specialist across newspapers, magazines, social media, and internal materials.

· Conducts industry, market, and competitive research to identify trends, patient preferences, and growth opportunities.


Key Focus Area: Data Analytics and Performance

· Evaluates and optimizes performance of agency-supported campaigns using data and analytics to improve outcomes, refine strategy, and drive measurable growth and ROI.

· Develops and monitors key marketing performance indicators (KPIs), including patient acquisition, conversion rates, digital engagement, and campaign ROI.

· Leverages analytics platforms (website, call tracking, CRM, EMR integrations) to inform decision-making and optimize marketing strategies.

· Builds and presents executive-level dashboards to track growth, referral patterns, campaign performance, and service line trends.

· Analyzes patient origin, referral patterns, and market data to identify opportunities for expansion and improvement.


Key Focus Area: Physician Recruitment

· Oversees physician recruitment strategy, developing and implementing comprehensive plans to attract top-tier candidates.

             o Utilizes multiple sourcing channels, including specialty-specific career boards and direct outreach to Fellowship Directors.

             o Maintains and manages recruitment tracking systems by specialty.

             o Collaborates with OCR physicians throughout candidate screening and selection.

             o Coordinates and leads candidate site visits across all OCR campuses and affiliated health systems.

             o Oversees onboarding and integration of new physicians.

· Manages offboarding processes for retiring physicians to ensure continuity of care and patient retention.

· Serves as a key liaison between physicians and administration to align marketing strategies with individual practice goals and growth plans.

· Provides strategic guidance to physicians on branding, patient acquisition, and referral development.

  

Key Focus Area: Physician and Provider Relationship Management

· Develops and executes referral growth strategies, strengthening relationships with primary care providers, specialists, and regional health systems.

· Builds and maintains strong relationships with healthcare partners, including UCHealth, Intermountain Health, CommonSpirit and other regional systems.

· Leads research and growth initiatives for individual physician practices to support volume growth and market positioning.

· Collaborates across departments on patient satisfaction initiatives and leads reputation management efforts, including internal surveys and online review strategies.

             o Develops and implements patient survey strategies to gather actionable insights.

             o Tracks, analyzes, and presents patient experience data to leadership.

             o Identifies trends and opportunities to improve quality, access, and patient experience.


Key Focus Area: Marketing Project Management

· Develops and implements annual marketing and advertising plans aligned with organizational goals.

· Creates and manages the annual marketing budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and ROI.

· Leads and facilitates quarterly Marketing Committee meetings with OCR North & South physicians.

· Develops and implements marketing strategies for new physician practices and service lines.

· Builds and maintains centralized databases for internal and external analysis, including survey data, referral data, and market insights.

· Identifies growth opportunities, service gaps, and strategic priorities through data-driven analysis.

· Oversees OCR logo store and internal branding resources for physicians and staff.


Key Focus Area: Event Management and Community Engagement 

· Supports internal teams in the planning and execution of key OCR events, including:

             o Employee Appreciation Week

             o OCR Milestone Awards

             o OCR Holiday/Picnic

· Leads marketing strategy and support for key OCR events, including:

             o Annual Virtual Total Joint Surgery Walk

             o Annual Orthopaedic Symposium (clinical conference)

             o Physician & spouse social events

· Leads community outreach initiatives and represents OCR in community events.

· Oversees OCR-sponsored community events and partnerships, managing activation, branding, and engagement strategies to maximize visibility, community impact, and return on investment.

· Coordinates physician participation in community education, speaking engagements, and outreach events.


Key Focus Area: Philanthropy and Community Giving

· Oversees OCR’s charitable giving strategy and community investment initiatives.

· Manages sponsorships, donations, and philanthropic partnerships to align with organizational values and community impact goals.

  

Key Focus Area: Leadership and Collaboration

· Provides cross-functional leadership across departments, physicians, and external partners to execute integrated marketing and growth strategies.

· Leads collaboration between marketing, operations, physician leadership, and external vendors.

· Ensures alignment between marketing initiatives and organizational priorities across both North and South regions.


Education and Experience

· Bachelor’s degree is required.

· Five or more years’ experience in the marketing and physician relations management space. Additional education may be substituted for experience.

· Digital and web marketing experience strongly preferred.

· Physician recruitment experience recommended. 

   

Supervisory Expectations

Directly supervise one or more employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Travel Requirements

Position requires acceptable motor vehicle driving history, valid and free from restrictions, and must have a valid driver’s license and appropriate vehicle insurance coverage. Ability to travel between all OCR locations and OCR sponsored and/or community events.

 

Physical Requirements

  • The work environment is the typical office environment. Salary Description
$110,000 - $160,000/year, based on experience
