We are a growing insurance agency with a strong trucking insurance foundation, looking for a Director of Agency Operations & Growth to help take us to the next level. 


We are seeking a hands-on, entrepreneurial leader who can improve operations, build scalable systems, drive cross-selling across divisions, and strengthen carrier relationships. This role will directly impact agency growth across trucking, commercial, and personal lines


 

This is a leadership-track position with a clear path to VP of Operations. 

Key Responsibilities 

Agency Operations & Systems 

  • Oversee daily agency operations to ensure efficiency, consistency, and high service standards  
  • Develop, implement, and improve workflows, systems, and operational processes  
  • Manage and optimize the agency management system and operational technology  
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement scalable solutions to support growth  

Growth Across Divisions 

  • Help lead continued growth in trucking insurance (core business)  
  • Support expansion into additional commercial lines and personal lines  
  • Build processes and structure to support new lines of business  
  • Work closely with producers to improve pipeline, close ratios, and overall performance  

Cross-Selling & Client Retention 

  • Develop and implement strategies to increase cross-selling across divisions  
  • Work with internal teams to identify opportunities within the existing book of business  
  • Create systems that encourage referrals between departments  
  • Help improve client retention through better service processes and account rounding  

Carrier Relationships 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with carrier partners and underwriters  
  • Identify new carrier opportunities and help expand market access  
  • Assist in negotiating programs, production goals, and underwriting strategies  
  • Ensure alignment between agency operations and carrier expectations  

Leadership & Team Development 

  • Lead and support service staff, marketing/quoting personnel, and operational team members  
  • Establish accountability and performance expectations across teams  
  • Train and mentor team members on systems, workflows, and best practices  
  • Foster a culture focused on growth, efficiency, and client service  

Strategic Growth & Execution 

  • Partner with ownership to identify and execute growth initiatives  
  • Bring an entrepreneurial mindset to solving problems and identifying opportunities  
  • Help position the agency for its next stage of growth  

First-Year Success Priorities 

  • Improve and streamline operational workflows across the agency  
  • Strengthen quoting and marketing processes to support producers  
  • Implement effective cross-selling systems across divisions  
  • Support continued growth in trucking while building structure for other lines  
  • Strengthen and expand key carrier relationships  


Requirements

 Required 

  • 5+ years of experience in insurance agency operations, leadership, or management  
  • Strong understanding of commercial lines and/or personal lines insurance  
  • Experience working with agency managements systems or the ability to showcase past out of industry learning that demonstrates the ability to learn technical aspects quickly 
  • Proven ability to improve processes, systems, or operational workflows  
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills  
  • Ability to balance hands-on execution with strategic thinking  

Preferred 

  • Experience with trucking or transportation insurance  
  • Insurance license (or ability to obtain)  
  • Experience supporting or working alongside sales teams/producers  
  • Experience building or scaling agency operations  

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field preferred  
  • Equivalent experience in insurance agency operations or leadership will be strongly considered in place of formal education

Salary Description
Salary + Bonus; $90,000 to $110,000
