We are seeking caring, energetic, and dedicated early childhood educators to join our teaching team at Wooster 3 Head Start. In this role, you'll create a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom where children build the skills and confidence they need for lifelong success.

As a Teacher, you'll work alongside families and a collaborative team of educators and support professionals to create meaningful learning experiences that help every child thrive. Together, you'll support children's learning, social-emotional development, and school readiness while building strong partnerships with families.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Classroom Instruction & Child Development

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences that support children's cognitive, social-emotional, language, and physical development. 
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment that promotes school readiness and a lifelong love of learning. 
  • Implement approved curriculum and daily routines using developmentally appropriate practices and Conscious Discipline strategies. 
  • Conduct developmental screenings, ongoing assessments, and classroom observations to monitor each child's progress and individualize instruction. 
  • Promote literacy, language development, problem-solving, and social-emotional growth through intentional teaching and play-based learning. 

Family Partnerships & Collaboration

  • Build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and coworkers. 
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding children's progress, development, and classroom activities. 
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences, home visits, and family engagement opportunities. 
  • Collaborate with Family Service staff and other program specialists to support the individual needs of children and families. 
  • Assist in planning classroom events, transitions, and other activities that strengthen family involvement. 

Program Quality & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate classroom records and child documentation in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, licensing requirements, and agency policies. 
  • Conduct daily health and safety checks and help maintain a safe, healthy learning environment. 
  • Participate in staff meetings, required trainings, and ongoing professional development. 
  • Support continuous quality improvement efforts and perform other related duties as assigned. 


WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO OUR TEAM

Required Qualifications

  • Education that meets Head Start Teacher qualification requirements, including a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or other qualifying education. Candidates actively working toward required credentials are encouraged to apply where permitted by program requirements. 
  • Valid Ohio driver's license and ability to meet agency insurability requirements. 
  • Ability to actively engage with young children throughout the day, including standing, bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds, and participating in indoor and outdoor activities. 
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills. 
  • Ability to build positive partnerships with children, families, and coworkers while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. 
  • Commitment to providing high-quality early childhood education and supporting the mission of Community Action Wayne/Medina. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Head Start, preschool, childcare, or another early childhood education setting. 
  • Knowledge of child development, developmentally appropriate practices, school readiness, and family engagement. 
  • Experience working with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
