biBerk, a leading direct-to-consumer small business insurance company, is seeking a Senior Marketing Data Scientist to lead advanced analytics supporting our marketing measurement and performance optimization efforts.
As a digital-first insurer, biBerk makes a significant ongoing investment in direct digital advertising and customer acquisition each month. This role will serve as the lead technical expert responsible for measuring and optimizing the effectiveness of that investment, helping ensure that marketing dollars are deployed as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Reporting to the Chief Actuary, this role partners closely with the Marketing team to evaluate marketing performance, develop advanced measurement frameworks, and generate insights that drive improved marketing ROI. The work produced in this role will directly influence marketing investment decisions, channel strategy, and company growth, making it a high-impact position with significant visibility across the organization.
The ideal candidate has deep experience in marketing analytics, marketing mix modeling (MMM), and data-driven attribution, and is comfortable translating complex model outputs into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders. This role will also lead the design and measurement of incrementality testing initiatives to better understand the true causal impact of marketing investments.
This position requires a high degree of independence, strong analytical rigor, and the ability to clearly communicate insights to business leaders. The individual in this role will be the primary technical resource for advanced marketing measurement and will play a key role in building and evolving the organization’s internal marketing analytics and modeling capability.
Job Responsibilities
Marketing Measurement & Modeling
- Lead the development and ongoing improvement of the company’s internal Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM) capability.
- Develop, estimate, and maintain marketing mix models, including model specification, variable engineering, lag/adstock structures, and model validation.
- Build and maintain data-driven attribution models to understand customer acquisition pathways and channel contribution.
- Analyze marketing performance and provide recommendations for optimal marketing spend allocation across channels.
- Partner with marketing leadership to develop robust frameworks for measuring incremental marketing impact.
Incrementality Testing
- Design, implement, and analyze incrementality and lift tests across marketing channels.
- Develop methodologies to measure the causal impact of marketing investments.
- Partner with marketing teams to embed testing frameworks into campaign planning.
- Translate testing results into actionable insights that inform future marketing investment decisions.
Exploratory Analysis & Insights
- Conduct deep exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover trends, anomalies, and opportunities in marketing and customer data.
- Evaluate campaign performance, customer acquisition dynamics, and channel effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities to improve ROI, conversion rates, and acquisition efficiency.
Analytics Infrastructure & Reporting
- Design and implement monitoring frameworks and automated alerts to track marketing performance.
- Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and reporting tools that provide clear visibility into marketing KPIs.
- Develop scalable reporting and analytical tools to support ongoing marketing measurement and decision-making.
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Translate complex analytical results into clear, actionable business insights.
- Present findings to non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Serve as a trusted analytical partner to marketing leadership and executives.
Ad Hoc Marketing Analytics
Lead or support additional marketing analytics initiatives, including:
- Campaign performance analysis
- Channel effectiveness studies
- Customer segmentation analysis
- Marketing performance diagnostics
Qualifications
Required Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in marketing analytics, marketing data science, or related analytical roles
- Hands-on experience developing and maintaining Marketing Mix Models (MMM), including model specification, variable engineering, estimation, and validation
- Experience building or implementing data-driven attribution models
- Experience designing and measuring incrementality or lift testing frameworks
- Strong experience performing exploratory data analysis
- Experience working with complex, multi-source marketing datasets
- Experience building business dashboards and reporting tools (Power BI preferred)
- Experience working in the insurance industry, with a strong preference for commercial or small business insurance
- Familiarity with insurance-specific data such as policy lifecycle events, underwriting attributes, claims data, pricing, or retention metrics
- Experience supporting growth, acquisition, retention, or cross-sell analytics in regulated financial services environments
- Understanding of small business customer behavior, including segmentation by industry, size, and risk profile
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Python or R for statistical modeling and data analysis
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets
- Experience with econometric, statistical, or causal inference methods
- Experience building reproducible analytical workflows and data pipelines
Soft Skills:
- Ability to work independently and manage projects with minimal supervision

In accordance with pay transparency laws and regulations, the following good faith compensation range estimate is being provided. The salary range for this position is $160,000-$220,000 per year. Final compensation will be based on candidate qualifications, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.
