POSITION SUMMARY

The Foundation Installation Manager holds a central leadership position in directing and supervising the full array of foundation installation endeavors across designated projects within construction, infrastructure, or utility-scale environments. This role entails guiding specialized field crews engaged in intricate tasks such as pile driving, ground screw placement, drilling, excavation, and ancillary civil engineering activities, all while ensuring installations are conducted with paramount emphasis on safety, precision, regulatory adherence, engineering blueprints, and temporal milestones.

In addition, the Foundation Installation Manager is essential for orchestrating workforce synchronization, optimizing equipment deployment, implementing robust quality oversight protocols, and managing production workflows. This contributes holistically to project success by mitigating risks, enhancing resource efficiency, and promoting a framework of operational superiority, innovation, and adaptive problem-solving in challenging field settings.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise Installation Operations: Oversee the daily orchestration of foundation installation processes, including pile driving, drilling, ground screw integration, and excavation, to guarantee seamless execution that prioritizes occupational safety, operational efficacy, and strict conformity with project timelines and budgetary constraints.
  • Team Leadership and Mentorship: Direct, manage, and cultivate the professional development of foundation crews, heavy equipment operators, and auxiliary staff across multiple projects, incorporating motivational strategies, skill enhancement programs, and performance assessments to build cohesive, high-performing teams.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Engage in collaborative efforts with Project Managers, Site Superintendents, Engineering professionals, Surveying experts, and Equipment maintenance teams to facilitate precise site layout, material integration, and foundation placement, resolving potential interdependencies and ensuring synchronized project progression.
  • Operational Monitoring and Compliance: Vigilantly supervise pile driving, drilling, or ground screw activities to verify alignment with geotechnical engineering mandates, soil stability analyses, and detailed design specifications, utilizing real-time data collection to preempt non-conformities and uphold structural integrity.
  • Performance Tracking and Analytics: Systematically monitor and document daily production outputs, equipment usage rates, and labor efficiency indicators to enable accurate cost tracking, variance reporting, and informed decision-making that supports financial stewardship and operational optimization.
  • Quality Control Assurance: Rigorously enforce adherence to established quality benchmarks, including dimensional tolerances, embedment depths, vertical and horizontal alignments, and material specifications, through methodical inspections and verification processes to deliver durable, reliable foundations.
  • Field Challenge Mitigation: Anticipate and expeditiously address on-site obstacles such as soil refusal scenarios, adverse weather interruptions, mechanical malfunctions, or surveying inaccuracies, applying analytical troubleshooting and contingency planning to minimize downtime and avoid escalatory impacts.
  • Safety and Compliance Audits: Execute frequent site inspections, hazard assessments, and productivity evaluations to sustain rigorous compliance with OSHA directives, environmental safeguards, and internal safety doctrines, while instilling a proactive safety ethos that prioritizes incident prevention and worker well-being.

  • Logistics and Supply Chain Collaboration: Partner with logistics coordinators and procurement specialists to orchestrate the punctual procurement and delivery of essential resources, including foundation piles, reinforcement materials, and specialized machinery, thereby averting supply chain bottlenecks and enhancing workflow continuity.

Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • A minimum of 5 years of specialized experience in foundation installation methodologies, heavy civil engineering projects, or large-scale infrastructure developments, with demonstrated expertise in handling variable soil conditions, structural load requirements, and site preparation techniques.
  • At least 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial role, showcasing proficiency in overseeing diverse crews, resource allocation, and conflict resolution within demanding field operations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of foundational systems, including pile driving techniques, drilling procedures, ground screw applications, or deep foundation engineering, integrated with an understanding of geotechnical principles and seismic considerations.
  • Practical familiarity with operating and maintaining heavy machinery, such as vibratory pile drivers, hydraulic excavators, compact skid steers, and rotary drilling rigs, including safety protocols and performance optimization.
  • Advanced capability to analyze and apply civil engineering drawings, detailed foundation schematics, geotechnical soil reports, and topographic surveys to ensure accurate implementation and compliance.
  • Solid grasp of OSHA standards, risk assessment frameworks, emergency preparedness, and site-specific safety management to cultivate a culture of zero-tolerance for hazards.
