(PART TIME POSITION)
APEC is seeking reliable, flexible, and responsive team members to serve as On-Call After School Substitutes. This role is critical to ensuring the safety, consistency, and quality of our afterschool programs when unexpected staffing gaps arise.
Ideal candidates live near one or more APEC school sites and are able to arrive within 30 minutes to 1 hour of notification.
Since 2003, the APEC Family Foundation has been committed to offering exceptional childcare through our preschool and afterschool programs. Our afterschool programs provide a safe, engaging environment where children are well cared for, learn enthusiastically, and have a blast every day.
Availability Expectations
- Must be available during afterschool hours (typically 1:30PM – 6:30 PM)
- Must be able to respond quickly to same-day or last-minute requests
- Must be able to arrive on-site within 30–60 minutes of being contacted
- Willingness to be “on-call” on designated days (schedule may vary)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide supervision and support for students in the afterschool program
- Step into classrooms or activity groups with minimal notice
- Maintain a safe, structured, and engaging environment for all children
- Follow APEC policies, procedures, and daily schedules
- Communicate effectively with site leads and APEC leadership
- Support transitions, snack time, activities, and dismissal
Location Requirement
- Must live within close proximity to one or more APEC program sites
- Reliable transportation required

Program Information
- APEC Afterschool locations are primarily based in the South Fulton GA area.
- Mentors are expected to report Monday – Friday 1:30pm – 6:30pm (excluding school breaks).
- Each mentor has a partner and maintains a 1:15 ratio.
- Each location supports 30 – 130 kids daily, ranging from ages 4-11.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Health and Safety / First Aid CPR certification is required (Onsite training options are available)
- Must pass a background check and complete any required training.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to commit to a consistent schedule.
- Previous experience working with children/elementary education is preferred but not required.
- Higher education credentialing (Bachelors/Masters Degree, Child Development Associate (CDA), TCC) is a plus!
