Summary
The Assistant Controller plays a key role in supporting the accounting operations of AMain. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and assisting in the day-to-day management of the accounting team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced in a fast-paced e-commerce or retail environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close Process
- Assist in managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting in accordance with GAAP
Accounting Operations
- Oversee general ledger activity, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory accounting
- Support revenue recognition and cost accounting processes
- Monitor and improve accounting workflows and systems
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Maintain and enforce internal controls and accounting policies
- Assist with audits (internal and external), including preparation of schedules and documentation
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff
- Provide training, performance feedback, and professional development support
- Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, operations, and leadership teams
Analysis & Process Improvement
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
Requirements
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred
- CPA or CPA candidate
- Experience in e-commerce, retail, or inventory-heavy environments
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite or similar)
- Experience managing or mentoring team members

Salary Description
$85,000 - $90,000
