Assistant Controller
Description

Summary

The Assistant Controller plays a key role in supporting the accounting operations of AMain. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and assisting in the day-to-day management of the accounting team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced in a fast-paced e-commerce or retail environment.


Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Close Process

  • Assist in managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes 
  • Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements 
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting in accordance with GAAP 

Accounting Operations

  • Oversee general ledger activity, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory accounting 
  • Support revenue recognition and cost accounting processes 
  • Monitor and improve accounting workflows and systems 

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Maintain and enforce internal controls and accounting policies 
  • Assist with audits (internal and external), including preparation of schedules and documentation 
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations 

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff 
  • Provide training, performance feedback, and professional development support 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, operations, and leadership teams 

Analysis & Process Improvement

  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities 
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives 
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience 
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting 
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting systems 
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills 

Preferred

  • CPA or CPA candidate 
  • Experience in e-commerce, retail, or inventory-heavy environments 
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite or similar) 
  • Experience managing or mentoring team members

Salary Description
$85,000 - $90,000
