Position Summary: The 5th Grade Teacher is responsible for all the normal duties associated with teaching a Lower School class. This person will proactively ensure that innovative teaching approaches are incorporated into the classroom through interaction with other teachers, school administration, and parents.
Responsibilities:
Primary:
Instruction and Planning – 60%
- Teach the assigned 5th grade class.
- Classroom planning overview for the year.
- Applying biblical integration principles to all classes.
- Weekly lesson planning & preparation.
- Lesson plans posted on RenWeb.
- Curriculum evaluation including course objectives.
- Inventory curriculum and supplies.
Communication with parents, students and administration – 10%
- Maintaining grades in the school management system on a timely basis.
- Proactively communicate with parents on a regular basis.
- Conduct fall grade level parent meetings and conferences.
Classroom Management – 10%
- Keep records including daily attendance and lunch counts.
- Maintain a clean and appealing classroom which includes maintaining classroom bulletin boards and displays.
- Be aware of and enforce handbook policies (Teacher and Student Handbooks).
- Collaborate with the special needs department to help students with special needs to adapt to the classroom.
Other Duties – 10%
- Attending scheduled faculty meetings.
- Monitoring of bus and carpool areas according to the schedule.
- Assist with special school programs as assigned.

Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
- Valid Minnesota Teaching License.
Experience:

- Previous experience teaching (or student teaching) 5th Grade.
- Experience related to 21st century learning concepts and integration of technology into the classroom.
- Knowledge of Christian K-12 education.

Travel: This position requires some local travel.
Working Conditions: This job operates in a professional office environment and will routinely use standard office equipment such computers, photocopiers, and smartphones. The work environment also involves working in a Preschool-12 Private Christian School and Evangelical Church environment and all employees are expected to have a demonstrated and personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Working Hours: Typically, employees are expected to work during normal hours and days of business, between Monday and Friday. Specific expectations for each position will be communicated by the supervisor of this position. Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required. This position works 40 hours per week and 9 months of the year.
