Head Cashier
Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support efficient front-end operations by maintaining clear communication with team members and customers while adapting to changing priorities.
  • Supervise cashier activities to ensure all register transactions comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Reconcile cash tills at the end of each cashier shift and investigate any discrepancies.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized checkout areas at all times.
  • Monitor the performance of cash associates and provide feedback and support to the Department Manager.
  • Ensure customer transactions are processed accurately, efficiently, and with a high level of customer service.
  • Respond to cashier requests for price checks, register assistance, and other customer service needs.
  • Ensure all registers are adequately supplied with cash and change throughout the shift.
  • Oversee the proper display, stocking, and labeling of merchandise in the checkout area.
  • Maintain quality control standards and uphold sanitation and food safety procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, operational procedures, and safety standards.
  • Assist with creating and maintaining cashier schedules to support operational needs.
  • Process and supervise customer returns and exchanges in accordance with company policy.
  • Approve register overrides and other authorization requests as required.
  • Open and close registers following established cash-handling procedures.
  • Utilize and troubleshoot the ECRS system and point-of-sale (POS) systems as needed.
  • Prepare and process bank deposits in accordance with company cash-handling procedures.
  • Assist in other areas of the market as directed by the General Manager or Market Manager, based on operational needs.



Requirements

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Associate’s Degree/High school diploma requirement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within the parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. 
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly
