General Summary:
This position is responsible for managing regional aspects of the Latin America business unit for The IRONMAN Group. The position will report directly to the Sr. Regional Director, Latin America and will work closely with all licensees in the region.
The Region Manager, LATAM oversees all designated events in Central and South America, Mexico and the Caribbean, encompassing the various IRONMAN brands including side and ancillary events. Primary responsibilities are event management, ensuring events are operated in an safe, effective and consistent manner according to IRONMAN’s standard level of excellence and day to day management of regional teams across the licensed event partnerships as well as overall brand development for Running (Rock ‘n’ Roll) and short course (5150) events for the region.
Event Execution/Portfolio Management
- Develops complex project plans to coordinate and manage multiple events simultaneously ensuring changes and progress are communicated.
- Drives operational excellence including efficiency and scalability of all events within the portfolio following global systems and procedures, timelines, safety and budgetary responsibility and policies.
- Provides leadership presence and acts as the IRONMAN representative at events and within communities as required.
- Anticipates challenges and obstacles and is proactive with creative solutions.
- Is obsessed with the Athlete experience prioritizing it with all actions and decisions.
- Responsible for driving growth opportunities in the assigned geographic region including but not limited to new events or other growth opportunities as applicable.
Day to Day Office Management
- Reviews all event website content, event schedules and athlete guides within regional team in the LATAM region to ensure all functions are operating properly.
- Provides leadership, guidance, and direction for the rest of the region.
- Attends regional events throughout the year.
- Ensures licensees and seasonal employees follow all Corporate IRONMAN guidelines according to their Event License Agreements and Seasonal Employment Agreements.
- Is a champion of BE ICONIC to our licensees, our athletes and our communities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITY:
- The Region Manager, LATAM is accountable to the Sr. Regional Director, Latin America.
- Aligns regional team to big picture goals - collaborating closely with Regional Functional Leadership (Website content, Marketing, Operations, Athlete Services etc.) and partners closely with the Sr. Regional Director, Latin America. Needs to ensure all regional functions are working together to drive the growth of the region.
- Responsible for managing the relationship and execution of licensed events in the assigned region. Ensures alignment between licensee and The IRONMAN Group’s team.
- Works directly with the Race Directors to ensure that events are produced to appropriate IRONMAN standards.
- Provides additional leadership assistance during integration process as required.
- Assists in driving best operational practices regionally through a project-based approach partnering directly with MD.
- Attends and supports global events as required or assigned.
- Attends Site Visit inspections for new potential events within LATAM.
