Description
George School, a Quaker boarding/day grades 9-12 college preparatory high school, has an opening for an part time Campus Safety Officer. The hours for the position is for 8 am - 4pm (Saturday and Sunday) every other weekend.
Responsibilities
- Conduct patrols of buildings and grounds. Secure and unlock facilities, as required. Report safety and security discrepancies. Drive George School vehicles as needed.
- Monitor persons on the George School premises; determine whether visitors are appropriate.
- Respond to calls for assistance from students, faculty, visitors, and staff. Escort students, faculty, visitors, and staff to their vehicles, upon request.
- Respond to fire emergencies and lend assistance, including the proper use of fire extinguisher, to ensure the safety of students, visitors, faculty, and staff in the event of a fire.
- Provide physical restraint as needed, in accordance with George School's established policy and procedure.
- Monitor and control parking, enforce parking regulations, issue violation notices. Keep emergency entrance and reserved parking areas clear of unauthorized vehicles. Control traffic flow as needed.
- Investigate and create written summaries of reports of theft, vandalism, and disturbances of any kind.
- Maintain records, reports, logs, and files. Receive and register lost and found articles.
- Protect confidential information.
- Render basic assistance to stranded motorists, including access to a telephone and shelter.
- Assist in clearing snow from roads and walkways.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks (i.e., minor plumbing, door hardware adjustment).
- Perform other duties as requested.
Requirements
- Experience of one of the following is preferred: College courses in a related field; Certificate from applicable training program; Experience in a security related field.
- Strong communication skills: ability to work well with students. Must have patience.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must be able to ascend four flights of stairs rapidly in the event of a rescue/emergency response.
- Valid Driver's License – minimum 5 years driving experience.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Flexibility with schedule is necessary during peak/non-peak periods on campus.
- Environmental factors: May be subject to adverse weather conditions. Ability to work outdoors in various climates.
