St. Joseph Catholic Church is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to fill the role of Coordinator of Adult Evangelization & Discipleship. This position is integral to the growth and vitality of our parish community, with a primary focus on coordinating the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) and implementing a range of parish initiatives designed to form and support adult disciples.
1. Adult Sacraments of Initiation:
- Facilitate and oversee the process of becoming Catholic through OCIA and our other Sacramental prep programs, ensuring a welcoming and educational environment for those seeking to join the Catholic faith.
- Recruit and train a team of OCIA catechists, mentors, and sponsors.
- Provide ongoing support to OCIA catechumens and candidates/confirmands on their faith journey.
2. Adult Faith Formation:
- Manage and develop a comprehensive adult discipleship pathway that includes a variety of learning opportunities, such as the Alpha course, Foundations, Discipleship Quads, and others.
- Collaborate with the Director of Evangelization & Catechesis to integrate faith formation for adults with the broader religious education programs.
- Provide vision & guidance for Men’s & Women’s ministry at the parish.
3. Parish Initiatives:
- Lead and support parish initiatives aimed at nurturing the spiritual growth of adults, including evangelization programs, adult bible studies, men’s/women’s retreats, and special events.
- Collaborate with other parish ministries and organizations to ensure alignment with the overarching discipleship mission.
4. Pastoral Care:
- Provide pastoral care to adults within the parish community, offering spiritual guidance and support as needed.
- Foster a sense of belonging and connectedness among adults in the parish.
5. Community Building:
- Create opportunities for fellowship and community building among adult parishioners, promoting a sense of unity and belonging within the parish.
Ministerial Character
The Pastor is the visible principal and foundation of unity in the parish of St. Joseph Catholic Church, which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ’s mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Positions employed at St. Joseph Catholic Church help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.
Working Conditions:
- Employees of Saint Joseph are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the Pastor in the exercise of his ministry and obligations to the Church
- Saint Joseph is an at-will employer
- All buildings owned by Saint Joseph are tobacco and alcohol free
- Working in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly
- Working on weekends, evenings, and some holidays may be required
- Will be exposed to religious ceremonies, conduct, and speech, including Catholic Christian prayer and liturgical celebrations
- Will be required to adhere to dress codes and conduct standards, including but not limited to EIM standards of conduct in the workplace and outside of the workplace
- Use of personal vehicle to drive to off-site locations outside the parish for meetings or events will be required
- Will be required to conform personal and professional activities to be consistent with and supportive of the mission, purpose, and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church to include social media
- Must complete the Diocese of Austin’s EIM qualifications within 30 days of employment and maintain certification throughout the employment period.
Qualifications:
- A practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
- Bachelor's degree in theology, religious studies, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Experience in coordinating OCIA and/or adult faith formation programs.
- A passion for evangelization and forming lifelong disciples.
- Knowledge of Catholic doctrine and theology.
- Strong Speaker for large groups.
- Great communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent grasp of the use of technology in ministry (Canva, Google, Office, Database software)
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of individuals.
