Job Summary

The Engineering Manager leads and oversees all engineering functions, including New Product Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Prototype Operations, Drafting & Design, and Technical Systems Support. This role ensures engineering priorities align with company objectives for safety, quality, manufacturability, cost, and delivery while supporting both new product launches and ongoing production operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage engineering teams supporting product development, manufacturing operations, prototype builds, drafting, and technical systems.
  • Establish engineering goals, priorities, and performance expectations aligned with company objectives.
  • Allocate engineering resources across new product development, production support, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Direct new product development and product changes from concept through production launch.
  • Ensure product requirements are translated into accurate designs, drawings, specifications, and release documentation.
  • Coordinate engineering, drafting, prototype, and manufacturing activities to reduce launch risk and improve execution.
  • Oversee manufacturing engineering support for fabrication, welding, paint, rigging, and final assembly operations.
  • Promote Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Ensure effective engineering change control, documentation accuracy, and drafting standards.
  • Oversee prototype builds, testing, and validation, ensuring lessons learned are incorporated into final designs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Supply Chain, Sales, and Leadership to resolve technical issues and align priorities.
  • Drive continuous improvement using production feedback, quality data, and field performance insights.

Education & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related technical field.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in engineering, manufacturing engineering, or product development.
  • Three (3) or more years of leadership or supervisory experience.

Preferred:

  • Experience in marine manufacturing, aluminum fabrication, or similar fabricated product industries.
  • Experience with manufacturing quality systems, compliance requirements, and production support environments.


Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, data entry, and reviewing technical documentation.
  • Occasional standing, walking, reaching, and movement throughout office and manufacturing areas.
  • Ability to lift up to 10–15 pounds, if applicable.
  • Visual acuity required to read drawings, documents, and computer screens.
  • Ability to safely walk and work in production and prototype shop environments.
