The Sales Assistant plays a key supporting role in our federal sales function by helping the sales team manage client relationships, maintain accurate sales records, coordinate internal communication, and identify new business opportunities within the government marketplace. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, organized, and proactive professional who is interested in supporting sales efforts in a government contracting environment. 

Requirements

The Sales Assistant will support day-to-day sales operations and administrative activities related to federal government accounts, including: 

  • Assist the sales team in managing federal client accounts, responding to inquiries, and tracking follow-up actions.  
  • Coordinate communication between internal departments, including sales, contracts, operations, finance, and customer service, to ensure timely support for government clients.  
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain sales documentation, including quotes, proposals, capability statements, product information, and account records.  
  • Support the preparation of reports related to sales activity, pipeline status, contract opportunities, and customer engagement.  
  • Conduct market research to identify potential federal contract opportunities, agency buying trends, and target accounts.  
  • Monitor public sector procurement platforms and databases for relevant solicitations, requests for information, and bid opportunities.  
  • Maintain accurate data in CRM systems and internal sales trackers.  
  • Assist with scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and documenting action items for client and internal sales meetings.  
  • Help coordinate submission materials and administrative requirements for government purchasing opportunities.  
  • Ensure sales files, communications, and supporting documents are complete, current, and compliant with internal procedures.  
  • Provide general administrative support to the sales team as needed to improve efficiency and client responsiveness.  

Required Qualifications 

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.  
  • 1–3 years of experience in sales support, account coordination, administrative support, or customer service.  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.  
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.  
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience supporting sales activities for federal, state, or local government clients.  
  • Familiarity with federal procurement processes, contracting terminology, and public sector purchasing environments.  
  • Experience with CRM platforms and sales reporting tools.  
  • Knowledge of government contracting resources such as SAM.gov, GSA schedules, contract vehicles, or related procurement portals.  
  • Experience conducting market research related to public sector opportunities.  
  • Understanding of compliance requirements and documentation standards in a government sales environment.

Salary Description
$16-$20/hour
