The Cash Flow Guardian
Do you get a quiet thrill when an aging bucket shrinks and the cash hits the bank? Do you have a knack for turning uncomfortable conversations into resolved balances — without burning the relationship? Do you go unusually above and beyond to keep your portfolio clean and your customers feeling respected? Do you love working with people while also holding them accountable? If so, keep reading…
The team at RTA is looking for an AR / Collections Specialist. This role owns a high-volume receivables portfolio — roughly 1,000 customers and ~500 open invoices at any given time — and is responsible for driving timely collections, resolving disputes, and keeping cash flowing. You’ll report directly to the Controller and work inside a fast-moving SaaS company that treats AR not as a back-office function, but as a critical driver of business health. This position plays a key part in not only the success of our company, but ultimately in the success of our clients.
What We’re Looking For
In general, someone who:
- Feels at home being a member of a healthy team. This means they aren’t afraid to mix it up or be held accountable by the team and they are willing to hold others accountable as well. People with trust issues and insecurity need not apply. No, seriously.
- Passionately cares about our clients and helping them be more successful. Our clients are fleet managers, parts clerks, automotive technicians, and they maintain everything from squad cars to school buses so that everyone comes home safely at the end of the day.
- Thinks of themselves less, while not thinking less of themselves. They are other-centric and compassionate.
- Is willing to lift boxes, clean floors, and hold doors — and more importantly, sees a problem and digs in to help find a solution. Whatever it takes to get something done.
- Loves to read, learn, grow, and stretch themselves. Bonus points for each book you’ve read by Patrick Lencioni.
- Is constantly looking for more: more to learn, more to do, and more opportunity.
Specifically for this job, someone who:
- Can manage a large, active portfolio without dropping a single ball. ~500 open invoices means you need systems, discipline, and serious follow-through.
- Communicates with confidence and professionalism — firm enough to collect, human enough to keep the relationship intact.
- Understands that every dollar collected isn’t just a number — it’s fuel that keeps the company running and the mission moving forward.
- Is comfortable working in QuickBooks Online (QBO), and ideally has experience with Maxio and HubSpot.
- Knows how to investigate and own a dispute from start to finish, including working cross-functionally to find root causes.
- Is accountable to outcomes, not just activity. We care about DSO, aging buckets, and cash in the door — not just that you sent a bunch of emails.
- Has experience collecting from and communicating with government agencies. Our customers operate school districts, municipal fleets, and public transit systems — understanding how government procurement and payment cycles work is a real advantage here.
