Position Title: Communications and Events Coordinator
Supervisor: Director of Development (or Chief Executive Officer)
Job Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

The Communications and Events Coordinator plays a key role in advancing this mission by strengthening the organization’s visibility, community engagement, and fundraising efforts. This position leads communications and marketing execution, coordinates special events, and supports donor engagement and volunteer coordination efforts that strengthen long-term philanthropic support.
This role requires strong organization, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal oversight. It is well suited for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys both storytelling and logistics, and who is energized by building meaningful community connections.
Duties and Responsibilities
Communications & Marketing
- Lead day-to-day execution of communications efforts, including social media, email campaigns, and donor-facing newsletters
- Develop and schedule content across platforms to increase engagement, awareness, and philanthropic support of YWCA programs and initiatives
- Create compelling messaging that supports fundraising campaigns, donor communications, and organizational storytelling
- Assist with website updates to ensure content is current, accurate, and aligned with organizational priorities
- Gather and develop program highlights, impact stories, and visual content to support marketing and fundraising efforts
- Maintain brand consistency across all communications and donor-facing materials
- Collaborate with program staff and leadership to ensure accurate representation of services, outcomes, and impact
Special Events
- Coordinate planning and execution of fundraising and community events, including the Keys of Hope Luncheon, Tribute to Women, and Diversity Day
- Develop and manage event timelines, logistics, vendors, materials, and on-site operations
- Support fundraising goals including sponsorship tracking, ticket sales, and donor experience
- Manage event communications including invitations, registrations, reminders, and post-event follow-up
- Collaborate with leadership and development staff to ensure strong donor engagement and consistent messaging
- Provide on-site event support, donor engagement, and troubleshooting as needed
Volunteer Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers across programs and events
- Recruit, onboard, and schedule volunteers to support organizational needs
- Coordinate volunteer roles for events and ongoing program support
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours and engagement
- Develop and manage consistent volunteer communication and engagement processes
- Support volunteer recognition and retention efforts
Administrative & Operational Support
- Track and report on key marketing, communications, event, and donor engagement metrics
- Maintain accurate donor, sponsorship, and event records within the organization’s CRM system
- Support donor stewardship activities, including timely acknowledgments, thank-you communications, and follow-up touchpoints
- Assist with donor cultivation support for events and campaigns, ensuring a positive and consistent donor experience
- Support cross-departmental coordination to ensure alignment of messaging, fundraising priorities, and donor communications
- Help maintain systems that support donor tracking, engagement history, and fundraising reporting accuracy
- Assist with general administrative tasks related to communications, events, volunteer engagement, and development operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in nonprofit communications, marketing, event coordination, or development support
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft clear and compelling content for donor and public audiences
- Experience supporting fundraising events, donor engagement, or stewardship activities preferred
- Proficiency with social media platforms and basic design tools (e.g., Canva or similar)
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal oversight and strong initiative
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of events and donor activities
- Commitment to respectful, inclusive, and relationship-centered engagement with donors, volunteers, and community partners
Compensation and Benefits
Pay Range: $45,000–$47,500 annually
Schedule: Monday–Friday, with flexibility for events
