Position Summary
The Security Manager is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of Landers Center patrons, employees, and assets while maintaining a visible, professional presence and interacting with patrons, vendors, and staff in a courteous and service-oriented manner.
This role provides leadership, direction, and oversight of all security personnel, including officers and supervisors, and is accountable for the effective execution of 24-hour facility security and event operations. The Security Manager is responsible for the recruitment, training, coaching, and development of staff, while ensuring strict adherence to all applicable legal, safety, and organizational policies established by Landers Center leadership and its partners.
In addition, the Security Manager serves as the primary liaison between the Landers Center and local, county, and state public safety agencies. This includes coordinating closely with the Southaven Police Department, DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office, fire and emergency medical services, and other governmental entities to ensure a unified approach to public safety. The role is responsible for developing and maintaining strong working relationships with these agencies, facilitating communication before, during, and after events, and coordinating joint planning efforts for large-scale events, emergency response protocols, and incident management.
The Security Manager plays a critical role in advancing interagency collaboration by participating in planning meetings, conducting joint risk assessments, and ensuring alignment with regional public safety initiatives. This position ensures that all security operations are integrated with law enforcement strategies and that appropriate resources are deployed to support a safe and secure environment for all stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee all 24-hour security operations for the Landers Center arena and associated county-owned facilities, including comprehensive event security operations. Responsibilities include staff scheduling, payroll management, and forecasting staffing needs to align with budgetary parameters, event requirements, and service expectations.
- Direct and coordinate security operations across all applicable venues and county facilities, ensuring consistent standards in safety, guest services, and operational execution for both day-to-day activities and large-scale events.
- Develop, implement, and distribute post orders, standard operating procedures, and event-specific security plans; provide departmental leadership aligned with organizational priorities, risk management protocols, and key performance indicators.
- Conduct routine and event-specific security risk assessments across the arena and county facilities, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending mitigation strategies to senior leadership to enhance overall safety and operational readiness.
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of departmental SOPs and comprehensive training programs, including annual emergency preparedness training for all full-time staff, part-time personnel, contractors, and vendors operating within the facilities.
- Manage and maintain all aspects of facility access control and security infrastructure, including issuance and tracking of physical keys, credentials, radio communications systems, CCTV monitoring and maintenance, and medical/emergency equipment.
- Coordinate and conduct security advances with touring productions, promoters, and visiting security teams to develop and execute detailed, event-specific security plans tailored to the unique operational needs of the arena and county venues.
- Serve as the primary liaison with local, county, and regional law enforcement and emergency response agencies—including the City of Southaven, DeSoto County agencies, Southaven Police Department, and DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office—to ensure coordinated security planning, traffic management, emergency response, and incident resolution.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timely submission of all incident reports, daily activity logs, and event documentation; oversee appropriate notification, escalation, and resolution of incidents in accordance with established policies and legal requirements.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal departments, external partners, governmental agencies, and surrounding business stakeholders to support seamless operations and enhance overall safety and security outcomes.
- Provide leadership in crisis management and emergency response situations, ensuring effective communication, coordination, and decision-making under high-pressure conditions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership to support the evolving operational and security needs of the Landers Center and associated county facilities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direct supervision of the Security Supervisor, along with oversight of all security personnel assigned to the Landers Center arena and associated county facilities, including full-time, part-time, and event-based staff.
- Lead and manage security operations across the arena and all designated facilities, ensuring consistent application of policies, procedures, and service standards while maintaining alignment with organizational goals and operational priorities.
- Execute supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Landers Center policies, county guidelines, and applicable laws, including but not limited to recruitment and hiring recommendations, onboarding, training and development, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, work assignments, and conflict resolution.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development to staff, fostering a culture of accountability, preparedness, and excellence in both facility operations and event security environments.
- Coordinate staffing deployment across multiple venues and facilities, ensuring appropriate coverage, operational efficiency, and effective labor management in support of 24-hour operations and event demands.
- Collaborate with facility and operations leadership to ensure security integration within all aspects of arena and county facility management, including event planning, emergency preparedness, and day-to-day operations.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Primary work location: Landers Center, Southaven, Mississippi.
- Must be available to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours to support events and 24/7 operations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including navigating stairs and large facility areas before, during, and after events.
- Ability to work in high-noise environments and varying indoor/outdoor conditions.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds without assistance.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage comprehensive security operations within a complex, multi-use environment, including an arena and associated county facilities.
- Strong knowledge of public safety practices, risk management principles, and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to venue security, crowd management, and emergency response.
- Proven experience coordinating with law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other governmental agencies to support large-scale events and day-to-day operations.
- Ability to develop, implement, and enforce policies, procedures, and standard operating protocols that ensure a safe, secure, and compliant environment.
- Experience in managing diverse teams, including full-time, part-time, and event-based personnel, with a demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff.
- Strong operational and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, allocate resources effectively, and adapt to dynamic, fast-paced environments.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Safety, Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Business Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and progressively responsible professional experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in security operations, executive protection, law enforcement, military, or a related public safety field, preferably within a large public assembly venue, arena, stadium, or multi-use facility environment.
- At least two (2) years of supervisory or management experience overseeing security personnel, including full-time, part-time, and/or event-based staff.
- Experience developing and implementing security plans, emergency action plans, and standard operating procedures across multiple facilities or operational environments.
- Familiarity with security technologies such as CCTV systems, access control, credentialing, and radio communications systems.
- Relevant certifications are preferred and may include CPR/AED, First Aid, Incident Command System (ICS/NIMS), or other public safety or security-related credentials.
