Job Summary

The Director of Product & Strategy, Private Events will help shape the future of Five Iron’s Events business by building the systems, workflows, products, and strategic infrastructure that allow the business to scale intelligently and profitably.

This role sits at the intersection of product, technology, sales operations, and commercial strategy, serving as a key partner to the SVP of Events. The Director will help modernize how Five Iron segments, packages, prices, sells, and operationalizes private events across markets.

A core part of the role is using a more disciplined product-development framework — and modern AI tools — to rethink the Private Events business. That includes refining buyer-based segmentation, customer personas, developing clearer product architecture, improving sales workflows, and helping build smarter tools that enable faster, more tailored proposals, marketing, and execution.

The ideal candidate is equal parts workflow architect, product builder, and strategic operator — someone who can translate business goals into scalable systems and customer-facing products.

Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Strategy & Innovation

  • Own the development and evolution of Five Iron’s Private Events product offering, including packages, pricing frameworks, food & beverage structures, premium add-ons, and new event formats.
  • Lead segmentation work using a buyer-based framework: segment = different buyer; product = different experience.
  • Build a clearer product architecture connecting segment ? product ? localization ? sales and marketing execution.
  • Use customer behavior, sales performance, market trends, and AI-enabled analysis to identify new product opportunities and improve existing offerings.
  • Partner cross-functionally to bring new products from concept to rollout with strong go-to-market plans, training, and documentation.

Systems, Workflows & Sales Infrastructure

  • Own the architecture and optimization of the core systems that power the Private Events business, including CRM, event management platforms, reporting tools, and workflow automations.
  • Improve the sales process from lead intake through booked event and actualized revenue, ensuring better structure, visibility, and accountability.
  • Refine CRM setup, segmentation, reporting, automation, and pipeline management to support a more scalable sales engine.
  • Create SOPs, playbooks, product cards, and training materials that improve consistency and execution across the Events organization.
  • Partner with Technology, BI, and Finance to improve dashboards, data integrity, and performance visibility.

Commercial Strategy & AI-Enabled Innovation

  • Support the SVP of Events on strategic initiatives tied to revenue growth, scalability, and product innovation.
  • Analyze close rates, package mix, per-person spend, upsell penetration, and related metrics to identify commercial opportunities.
  • Use AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT to accelerate segmentation work, product development, brochure creation, proposal logic, and internal workflows.
  • Help develop future-state tools such as:
    • a smarter proposal engine that matches the right product to the right buyer,
    • more tailored BEO / run-of-show outputs by event type
    • and more targeted marketing inputs based on clearer segment intelligence.
  • Help create a selling environment where a new Event Sales Manager can quickly understand who the buyer is, what product to offer, and how to position it.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Act as a central connector across Events, Operations, Culinary, Marketing, Technology, BI, and Finance.
  • Help ensure new locations, new products, and major business initiatives are events-ready from both a systems and product standpoint.
  • Serve as a senior internal resource on Private Events infrastructure, workflows, segmentation, and product strategy.

Qualifications

  • 5–8+ years of experience in product strategy, sales operations, revenue operations, business operations, hospitality product development, or related fields.
  • Proven ability to build or optimize systems, workflows, and go-to-market infrastructure in a multi-unit, hospitality, experiential, or consumer-facing business.
  • Strong product instinct with experience developing, packaging, pricing, or improving customer-facing offerings.
  • Strong fluency with CRM and workflow systems; experience with HubSpot, Salesforce, Tripleseat, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data, customer insight, and operational judgment to drive commercial decisions.
  • Comfort using AI tools and emerging technologies to accelerate analysis, content creation, workflow design, and product development.
  • Strong project management, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Experience in hospitality, events, entertainment, restaurants, or adjacent sectors preferred.

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • The Private Events business has a clearer, more scalable operating system behind it.
  • Sales teams are supported by smarter workflows, better tools, cleaner data, and stronger process discipline.
  • Five Iron has a more disciplined segmentation model and a stronger product strategy tied to distinct buyer types.
  • Event products are easier to sell, better aligned with the brand, and more effective at driving revenue, margin, and guest satisfaction.
  • The Events organization becomes increasingly tech-enabled, data-driven, and operationally sharp.
