Description

SUMMARY:

The Survey Intern will work alongside experienced survey technicians and licensed surveyors assisting with field data collection, research, drafting, and preparation of survey deliverables. Assignments will primarily occur in the field, with some office work included.

This internship is designed to provide meaningful exposure to the technical and professional aspects of modern land surveying while developing practical technical skills and professional awareness.

This position is ideal for students interested in pursuing a career in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or Civil Engineering.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Currently enrolled in a Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related program preferred.
  • Previous surveying experience helpful but not required.
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with GNSS or Total Station equipment preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform precise measurements and calculations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and contribute to a team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist survey crews with boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
  • Support monument recovery, documentation, and field note preparation.
  • Assist with setup and operation of survey equipment including GNSS receivers, total stations, and data collectors.
  • Assist with the collection and organization of field data used in survey deliverables.
  • Support preparation of survey drawings, plats, exhibits, and supporting documentation using CAD software.
  • Conduct research of survey records, plats, deeds, and public documents to support project work.
  • Assist survey technicians and licensed surveyors with project tasks from field data collection through final deliverables.
  • Maintain organized field notes, documentation, and project data.
  • Follow company safety procedures and assist with maintaining quality standards on survey projects.
  • Prepare a summary presentation at the conclusion of the internship describing experience gained and lessons learned during the program.
