Description

 Spend an exciting two weeks of summer with Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road Council! Join us as a Day Camp Counselor and provide general program delivery during the summer to Girl Scouts in Northern Kentucky. The Day Camp Counselor will participate in Licking Valley Day Camp and will be responsible for overseeing participating girls, managing daily activities, and bringing a positive and energetic attitude to each exciting day. Day Camp Counselors will also learn invaluable skills related to working with youth, strengthening teamwork abilities, and navigating dynamic work days. This is an on-site position open to applicants aged 16 and up.  

Requirements

 Essential Duties & Responsibilities -

  •  Promote, deliver, and support two weeks of summer day camp programming that utilizes the Girl Scout curriculum and other aspects of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in the Northern Kentucky area. 
  • Assist with oversight of girl safety, including but not limited to: reviewing daily rosters, managing check in and out, and supervision of activities throughout the week. 
  • Work directly with the Regional Program Coordinator to ensure optimal day camp experience for girls and families involved. 


Education and Experience

  • High school degree preferred, but not required if under the age of 18. 
  • Experience or a willingness to work with youth, and passionate about developing girls into leaders. 
  • Strong communication skills in written, verbal, and virtual delivery. 


Required Skills/Abilities - 

  • Previous experience in Girl Scouts a bonus, but not required. 
  • Capability to provide own transportation. 
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check if over the age of 18. 
  • Must possess the ability to work with girls in a large group setting and be able to apply critical thinking, use of good judgement, and make positive decisions. 


Physical Requirements-

  • The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to withstand: 
  • Prolonged standing, bending, stooping, walking long distances, hiking, climbing, and stretching 
  • Moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds) 
  • Walking on uneven terrain, up and down hills for distances up to ½ mile multiple times each day 
  • Endurance to meet emergency needs
  • Ability to tolerate daily exposure to sun and heat during summer months 
Salary Description
$250 per week
