ABOUT THE ROLE 

Associations International is seeking a strategic leader to serve as Vice President, ICF Coaching Education within the ICF Global Enterprise. As Chief Staff Officer, this role is responsible for the organization’s strategy, operations, and overall performance.


Working closely with the Board of Directors and volunteer leadership, the Vice President ensures alignment between governance and operations while advancing strategic priorities through scalable programs and services across the global coaching ecosystem.


This role provides executive leadership to strengthen organizational effectiveness, foster stakeholder relationships, and support continued growth. The ideal candidate brings experience in association, nonprofit, or higher education environments, along with strong business acumen in education, credentialing, or accreditation. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer of ICF and partners closely with the ICF Coaching Education Board and ICF Global Enterprise leadership.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Organizational Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead execution of the strategic impact plan in alignment with ICF Global Enterprise priorities 
  • Provide visionary leadership to staff and volunteer leaders to advance long-term organizational goals 
  • Contribute as an active member of the ICF senior leadership team 
  • Build and sustain a high-performing, inclusive, and engaged team culture 

Operations & Program Delivery

  • Oversee development and delivery of programs, services, and events 
  • Ensure excellence in accreditation standards, policies, and systems 
  • Drive operational effectiveness and continuous improvement 
  • Align resources and priorities to maximize organizational impact 

Financial Management

  • Partner with Board leadership to ensure sound fiscal planning and stewardship 
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance 

Board & Governance Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Board of Directors 
  • Facilitate strong staff–board collaboration and co-creation 
  • Ensure transparency and alignment between governance and operations 

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Maintain clear, consistent communication with Board members, stakeholders, and partners 
  • Provide guidance to coaching education providers navigating accreditation processes 
  • Collaborate across ICF family organizations and with Associations International shared services 

External Relations & Representation

  • Serve as primary spokesperson and ambassador for ICF Coaching Education 
  • Represent the organization within the global coaching community and industry forums 
  • Partner with the Board Chair in media and public-facing engagements
Requirements
  •  5–7+ years of leadership experience in association management, nonprofit, or higher education environments 
  • Demonstrated experience working with nonprofit Boards of Directors 
  • Experience with accreditation, credentialing, or standards-based programs 
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to drive alignment, accountability, and results 
  • Experience operating within complex, matrixed organizations using systems thinking 
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills 
  • Master’s degree strongly preferred
  • Experience managing a 501(c)(6) organization preferred 
  • CAE (Certified Association Executive) designation preferred 
  • Familiarity with or experience in the professional coaching industry preferred 
  • Ability to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends
