The Senior Market Insights Analyst plays a critical role in analyzing U.S. energy market fundamentals to support Environ’s retail energy procurement and advisory services. This role goes beyond traditional analysis—serving as a data storyteller who transforms complex datasets, market signals, and regulatory developments into clear, compelling narratives that inform strategy and drive client decisions.
The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, proactive, and highly analytical, with a strong ability to connect data to real-world implications. They don’t just report on what is happening in the market—they explain why it matters and what to do next.
This role operates with moderate guidance from senior leadership and reports to the Vice President of Market Analytics.

Education and Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of related professional experience, in retail energy procurement advisory, analysis or related fields
- Background in economics, finance, energy markets or related fields
Successful candidates will possess the following:
- Strong understanding of U.S. energy markets, including ISO/RTO structures, pricing mechanisms, and key terminology
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize large datasets into meaningful insights
- Proven ability to translate data into clear, compelling stories that influence decision-making
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, data manipulation, pivot tables); experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) preferred
- Strong data visualization skills, with an eye for presenting information in a way that enhances understanding
- Ability to independently source, validate, and interpret data from multiple inputs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clarity, structure, and audience awareness
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams
- High level of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable working in virtual environments and utilizing cloud-based systems
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate complex datasets and market activity into clear, insightful narratives that drive understanding and action
- Generate market analyses, from idea generation through analysis
- Monitor and analyze key drivers of U.S. energy markets (e.g., supply/demand dynamics, pricing trends, regulatory developments)
- Research and contextualize market events, policy changes, and regulatory activity to assess potential impacts
- Develop compelling deliverables (reports, presentations, etc) that effectively communicate insights through both data and storytelling
- Present findings to internal and external stakeholders, tailoring messaging to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Provide ongoing market intelligence and thought leadership, connecting trends and events into cohesive “so what” insights
- Collaborate cross-functionally with procurement, client services, and strategy teams to translate analysis into actionable recommendations
- Proactively identify risks, opportunities, and emerging trends, clearly articulating their potential impact on client strategies
- Support the development and enhancement of internal tools, models, and data visualization capabilities
