Launchpad Hospitality is hiring an Executive Sous Chef to join the team at Nami Nori's new Virginia Beach location, an iconic restaurant where Pharrell Williams is a partner. We’re looking for someone energetic, experienced, and ready to take on a leadership role—someone passionate about great food, exceptional service, and inspiring a team. Nami Nori was the first to specialize in open-style sushi hand rolls in New York City. Our mission is to build a global fanbase for temaki through omotenashi—the Japanese art of gracious hospitality.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Executive Sous Chef supports the Chef de Cuisine in all kitchen operations. This includes food production, coaching and training, ordering & inventory, and maintaining department of health standards and compliance with all regulations..

Requirements
  • Strong culinary skills which include:
    • Advanced palate
    • Strong spatial reasoning
    • Solid sense of timing
    • Speed and efficiency 
    • Finely tuned sensory skills
    • Expert knife skills 
  • Experience costing recipes and recipe input 
  • Strong understanding of menu performance to drive profitability
  • Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques, procedures and equipment
  • Expert knowledge of DOH Guidelines
  • Highly motivated leader who leads with empathy and inspires their team to achieve a high level of performance:
    • Able to seamlessly work with different personalities and temperaments
  • High attention to detail and maintains high standards for quality, cleanliness, presentation, food safety and efficiency
