Job Description


This role is based at our Fitchburg, MA location, with an opportunity for a hybrid work model, and supports multiple Nelson Miller Group locations.


Role Overview
Nelson Miller Group is seeking a Contracts Specialist to oversee the complete contract lifecycle, from pre-award activities through final closeout. This individual will support proposal development, lead contract negotiations, administer contractual obligations, and serve as the primary customer liaison to ensure fully compliant and successful contract execution, primarily for but not limited to Defense contracts.


General Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of contract lifecycle, including customer POs, solicitations, proposal development, contract change control process, and overall administration in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and federal regulations.
  • Support proposal preparation, ensuring accurate cost, schedule, and performance data, collaborating with multiple departments including Sales and Application Engineering teams.
  • Lead contract negotiations and oversee contract administration.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for customer contract matters.
  • Provide audit and fact-finding support for major proposals.
  • Manage contract changes and communicate adjustment rights.
  • Identify contractual issues, analyses impact and ramifications, and evaluates and recommends alternative solutions consistent with company policies, procedures, applicable laws and regulations, and sound business practices.
  • Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, and other agency regulations.
  • Act as SME on ITAR requirements and manage ITAR regulations. Training provided as applicable.
  • Review customer RFQs and contract T&Cs; advise leadership on contractual rights, obligations, and performance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and customers to ensure contract success.
  • Support procurement with flow-down terms and key contracting tasks.
  • Contribute to achieving financial goals for new and ongoing programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

 Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree with minimum of four (4) years of experience or minimum of eight (8) years of related experience in lieu of a degree. 
  • In depth knowledge of contract lifecycle management: RFP review, proposal preparation, negotiation, and administration.
  • Experience interpreting contracts, statements of work, and cost/price analysis.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Government contracting.
  • Strong knowledge of Contract Law & Regulations (FAR/DFARS).
  • Experience with and knowledge of ITAR preferred.
  • Proven experience in proposal development, negotiation, and contract administration.
  • Security clearance is not required but is a plus.
  • Domestic travel anticipated approx. 20%.

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range: $85,000 - $125,000 base annual (Pay to be determined by the experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the candidate, and alignment with market data)
