Description

The Black Belt supports execution of process improvement initiatives across Navy Medicine by applying Lean Six Sigma methodologies to analyze workflows, identify inefficiencies, and implement optimized solutions. This role works closely with stakeholders to drive measurable improvements in performance, cost, and quality.


Key Responsibilities


Process Improvement Execution

  • Lead CPI projects using DMAIC, DMADV, and RIE methodologies
  • Conduct process mapping, root cause analysis, and performance assessments
  • Identify inefficiencies and develop actionable improvement strategies

Implementation & Change Management

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement process improvements
  • Support change management initiatives to ensure adoption and sustainability
  • Develop optimized workflows and standard operating procedures

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to support decision-making
  • Develop reports documenting:
    • Current state processes
    • Identified inefficiencies
    • Recommended improvements
  • Track and report project performance metrics and outcomes

Training & Support

  • Support delivery of training sessions on CPI methodologies
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members and stakeholders
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification (required)
  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in CPI or process improvement
  • Experience applying Lean Six Sigma methodologies in operational environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting DoD, Navy, or healthcare organizations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools
