Job Summary: The Business Development Manager will drive revenue from methane abatement carbon credits generated from landfill gas projects globally. This role owns the full commercial cycle from market positioning through deal execution and builds relationships with corporate buyers, brokers, and financial institutions.
Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end sales of LAPID carbon credits (ACR registered projects).
- Build and manage a qualified pipeline across priority sectors.
- Develop and execute sales strategies to meet revenue targets.
- Negotiate spot and forward offtake agreements (pricing, volume, terms).
- Maintain pricing discipline and positioning for premium credit quality.
- Drive deal velocity from initial engagement through contract execution.
- Establish and grow relationships with brokers, marketplaces, and buyers.
- Identify and structure strategic partnerships (funds, platforms, intermediaries).
- Represent LAPID at industry events and target buyer engagements.
- Educate the market on methane abatement and project co-benefits.
- Expand access to new buyer segments and geographies.
- Monitor VCM trends, pricing benchmarks, and regulatory developments.
- Track buyer demand signals and purchasing behavior.
- Provide commercial input into project developments.
- Support go-to-market strategies for future credit vintages.
- Partner with internal teams (engineering, finance, legal) to align execution.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- 5+ years in business development, sales, or carbon markets.
- Experience structuring and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Direct experience selling carbon credits or environmental commodities.
- Experience with forward offtake or structured carbon deals.
Skills & Abilities:
- Proven ability to close complex, multi-stakeholder B2B deals.
- Strong understanding of voluntary carbon markets and ESG drivers.
- Clear communicator with strong executive presence.
- Familiarity with registries (ACR, Verra, Gold Standard).
- Knowledge of methane abatement, landfill gas, or biogas systems.
- Existing network of corporate sustainability buyers or brokers.
Work Environment:
- Primarily office or remote-based with frequent travel (up to 30%).
- Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to communicate effectively in meetings and presentations.
- Travel to conferences, client sites, and industry events required.
