Description

Develop 3D models of custom designed enclosures.  Develop job components and assembly prints for custom manufactured enclosures.  Work closely with Structural/Mechanical Engineers and Electrical Engineers during the product design phase.  Enter part information into BOM for material ordering.


Job Responsibilities/Key Accountabilities

  • Review all applicable documentation and company procedural manuals to determine critical dimensions of design.
  • Prepare drawings from engineering specifications and calculations, using 3D modeling software for review and approval by engineers and customers.
  • Confer with engineers to interpret design concepts, and determine design modifications needed.
  • Work with manufacturing staff to interpret designs, answer questions, and make changes as needed.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers effectively as needed for interpretation/clarification of drawings and specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with outside vendors on material and service requirements for each project.
  • Develop a Bill of Materials, for the designs, and input into the ERP system.
  • Perform additional duties as requested.

Educational Requirements/Degree(s)

  • Associate Degree in Engineering or CAD preferred or equivalent drafting experience.
  • Formal training in AutoCad and SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software.

Job Requirements/Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience designing structural and steel products.
  • Exceptional computer skills.
  • 5 years' experience using Computer Aided Design software.
  • 2 years' experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D solid modeling software.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, technical and non-technical.
  • Ability to work independently toward goals and established deadlines.
  • Flexible and adaptable to needs of engineering, customers, and plant personnel.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to take ownership and responsibility for the quality of his/her own work.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Works in both a professional office environment and a manufacturing/production floor environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the facility.
  • Regular interaction with production employees and operations personnel on the manufacturing floor.
  • May be exposed to varying temperatures, moderate noise levels, dust, moving machinery, and forklift traffic while on the production floor.
  • Must follow all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering production areas.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting of office materials or supplies up to 20 pounds.
  • May require occasional flexibility in schedule based on business or production needs.

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday
