Job Description
This position delivers quality assurance of all activities for the PPS business units, providing confidence that safety and operational work requirements are consistently fulfilled.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be willing and able to perform indoor and outdoor work activities related to inspecting.
Exposure to inclement weather, heat, humidity, dust and asphalt.
Noise levels which can be extreme when checking safety conditions at job sites.
Regularly working near moving mechanical parts.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and perform under adverse field conditions.
Must be willing and able to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays, when required.
Must be willing and able to travel.
Must have a valid license.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Conduct comprehensive inspections of PPS business unit activities to verify full compliance with client operating standards, written procedures, safety protocols, quality requirements, and all applicable regulatory obligations.
· Ensure all environmental standards and permitting requirements related to natural gas distribution work are consistently met and properly documented.
· Monitor field operations and exercise independent judgment to assess the quality, safety, and compliance of ongoing work activities. Possesses the authority to modify work processes and stop work when unsafe or noncompliant conditions are identified.
· Prepare clear, detailed reports of inspection findings to meet customer Operating Standards, industry best practices, and internal safety and environmental guidelines, communicating results to appropriate management stakeholders.
· Partner with local area management to ensure all employees’ Operator Qualification (OQ) records—including fusion, welding, and specialty task certifications—are current, valid, and compliant before work begins.
· Perform thorough inspections of equipment, material, and work executed meets project and client requirements to comply with quality control procedures.
· Lead or assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near-miss events, preparing comprehensive documentation and communicating root causes, corrective actions, and recommendations to management.
· Identify hazards, procedural deviations, nonconformance issues, and opportunities for improvement during field evaluations and communicate these findings promptly to management for corrective action.
· Conduct and document job site safety inspections, post-construction quality audits, and environmental compliance checks to ensure work meets all customer, federal, and internal standards.
· Lead, prepare, and deliver safety trainings, toolbox talks, and safety meetings, ensuring employees fully understand job-specific hazards, mitigations, and behavioral expectations.
· Provide on-site coaching, mentoring, and safety leadership to reinforce proper work practices, promote hazard recognition, and strengthen the overall safety culture in the field.
Qualifications
Excellent interpersonal, leadership and project management skills.
Proficient in oral and written communication skills with the ability to express and exchange ideas clearly and concisely.
Knowledge and ability to apply good judgment to effectively assess and recommend solutions in day-to-day activities and emergency situations.
Proficient skills in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
Knowledge and understanding of complex map reading.
Gas experience is strongly preferred with current operator qualifications.
Proper trenching and backfilling practices.
Additional Information
Minimum of five (5) years of direct work experience in a field operations. Experienced in the installation of natural gas distribution service line and main piping, gas metering, etc. is desired.
